|
|
I'm in the midst of trying to finish up a video and Vegas keeps showing me this error message that says 'an exception has occurred' and then it closes itself.
I can re-open it and work for about another half-hour before it does it again.
This isn't a new problem, it just seems to be a new phase in the problem.
It's been freezing up for the last several videos, but now it doesn't even freeze. The message pops up and it closes itself.
Anyone have any ideas on how to make it stop doing this? Or why it's doing this?

This kept happening to me in my last video. I had to copy and paste all my clips/music into a new project =P |

I was able to get my vid rendered before Vegas closed down again.
Is there a way to copy and paste all the clips at once? I've tried it before but I had to copy and paste each clip one at a time.

Oh good
Yeah you can either hold CTRL and select each clip individually or you can hold shift and click on a clip, it will highlight everything from the start of the timeline to wherever you clicked |

Thanks. I made a note of how to do that. I might try that next time it acts up.

Usually the error message means you have a file in your timeline that is corrupted. I've had to deal with those MANY MANY MANY times.
Something else that you can always do if it happens again is to use the backup file. The backup files are usually located right there with your project in the Vegas projects folder. You just open a new Vegas and drag the backup file into the timeline.
P.S I'm glad you got it worked out; sometimes it's easier then others. For example I've had to render a vid in sections to get around it. |

I'll have to watch and see if there's any clip that I've used in multiple problem vids. I've had a few older vids where I knew a clip was messed up because it only froze up on it. If it does it again, I'll have to pay attention to if it's always with the same clip.

I'd never thought of trying that. I always wondered what the use of that back-up file was.

I've had to render in sections a couple of times, especially when my Vegas has memory problems.I have had vids where it literally renders 1 second of footage then dies. That is such a pain to render in sections. I never can get it pieced together quite right and it always looks and sounds a bit odd. I think I got lucky with the vid being pretty short so my render time was short. I think had it been longer, it wouldn't have made it through the render.

Yeah I've tried to stop rendering it in sections because I think it hurts the quality of the vid; at least for me. But I've not done anything in a while.
Yeah; I've had a vid where files go red; and I believe that's an indicator that one or all might be corrupted. I've spotted a corrupted vid and just rendered it in Vegas and deleted the other and it worked better.
It's also one of the many reasons I don't download clips. Usually the downloaded clips are what caused a lot of problems for me when it came to being corrupted.
It's always good when it works out. Usually there's always a way the problem is just finding it. |

I get the red clips every so often. I get it anytime I use an AVI and with some WMV clips, especially if they are really long. I've had to re-render a couple of clips. I had one recently that refused to open in Vegas so I rendered it in WMM and now it's fine.

Some of my old ones from Evie and Josh's fansites cause me problems sometimes. But I haven't really found any one that is always the problem.
I've noticed my Vegas also misbehaves on some of my personal vids that are just vids of my dogs or photos montages.
