|

Hi everyone!
I have a problem that I'd really really appreciate some help on.
I recently got a new laptop (HP; Windows 8.) and I was able to install Sony Vegas 7.0 on it. However, I can't get any .AVI files imported into it, even though those files worked with Vegas on my old computer. (Only the audio will come up; sometimes). MP3 works fine and I wasn't able to try anything else. (BTW, these AVI files play just fine on Windows Media Player, etc.)
I'm so computer unsavvy, so any advice on codecs - what I should do; what my first step should be - would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance! _________________

Getting DIVX seems to have helped the situation. Hopefully it remains that way. If not, I will definitely be coming back to this thread.
Thanks Jemma and Wildcat! _________________

I had the same problem, so I was searching the Internet for any sort of assistance.
I have Sony Vegas 10, 64-bit right now and it wouldn't let me use .avi files. All I had to do (after getting really frustrated with downloading all of those codec packs) was to simply exchange a broken .dll file: from 64-bit to 32-bit (which apparently works just fine).
I did it and it work perfectly. And I didn't have to trash my hard drives with codecs.
Here's a link to the .dll 32-bit.
