Has anyone else gotten a message from Youtube while leaving a comment that asks you to change your 'hard to read' username to your real name?

I was trying to leave a comment on a video and it popped up. I chose the option not to change it. Then it wanted to know why I didn't want to use my name instead of my username. I picked an option about my channel being known by that name for other reasons.Then it said it was 'working'. I thought it was really weird the way it came out of nowhere, so I got out of there.

Just curious if anyone else has encountered this or if anyone knows why they're doing this now. I found it really annoying.

I just wanted to watch a video, not have to justify my choice of username.

yeah youtube has reached new levels of idiocy. I had it once, said no and havent had it again yet

Why on earth would I want my full name on YOUTUBE??

That is jst idiotic. YouTube as great people. But it also have people that are hurtful and attack people and get joy and comfort out of bringing someone they don't even know down. So no I'd never want those people to know my name. And to make us say why is just silly.

Its like Gmail. I shouldn't have to give my phone number to websites. I understand EBay and a few of those. But Gmail and twitter? Just doest make since to me.

I get that message about, every 2 weeks or so I think. I hate it because YT is something that I never want my real name on. Sure, maybe my first name but never my full name.

I think this "message" may just be another way for them to catch copyrighted materials without watching the video... they may want to see which option we choose out of the message. Pretty soon I might just leave youtube all together if they keep messing with it.

Augh! I got this last night... I selected "no" and it did it anyway! I was so horrified! I panicked so it took me a little while to figure out how to fix it. =\ What also annoys me is it seems to have made a Google+ profile for me at some point, which I also never asked for. I'm afraid to delete it because I've heard of people deleting G+ and it deletes every account they have linked to Google (including YouTube).

Google has been a bitch ever since they took over youtube, this is the stupidest thing they've done since they forced everyone on youtube to get g-mail accounts and link them to their channel.

Someone should just make a new Youtube site that isn't linked to Google. i never would have had my first account get deleted if none of this started happening. (yes, I'm still kinda mad it's gone; it had so many of my LOST videos and 100 subscribers ect) I used to like YT alot, but now I'm disliking it the more they change it.
