I'm not even sure where to begin...
I'm using Sony Vegas Pro 8 (on Vista ) at the moment which seems to have some serious bugs. I've never had an easy time rendering with it but lately it's become extremely unstable. Whereas before it would freeze when rendering large projects, now when I go to "File>Render As" nothing happens. That's if I can even keep the project file open long enough to highlight the part I want to render. Most of the time it crashes before I can do anything.
I've visited dozens of help forums and tried everything I can think of, including turning off the preview, switching off my virus protection and disconnecting from the Internet, shutting off all unecessary processes, deleting things off my desktop/hard drive, copying everything into a new project file, replacing clips, and even uninstalling and reinstalling the program several times and nothing seems to make any difference. It won't even let me render in pieces anymore.
Has anyone else had this problem and if so do you know of anything that will fix it? It's reached the point where I'm ready to give up vidding altogether because it's just become too stressful. _________________

Uf, should've checked the board before I posted. I'm having a similar problem myself, though not quite to the extent you are. I'd have some ideas, but it seems like you've already tried everything I can think of...ugh! That sucks majorly! _________________

Don't worry about it. Like you said, my problem is worse than yours! It's a sad day when the rendering options box won't even appear!
I posed a reply in your thread explaining how I dealt with my situation: http://lostvideo.net/phpBB/viewtopic.php?p=532866#532866 _________________

I have had your problem before. And it SUCKS. Sometimes it even screws up during the creation process; and I'll have to open it in a new Vegas and replace clips.
Vista and Vegas do not work well together at all. I have so many issues because of this. I once had the same vid going with two computers; because one was XP and the problem didn't exist.
WOW. I was going to suggest render it in pieces until I read this.
What I would do is render and watch it; watch where it screws up because that could mean you have a bad file. I've had that happen to me before a bad file. Maybe it's the music? |

Thanks, Brooke. I downloaded a trial of Sony Vegas HD Platinum 11 and it seems to work better with Vista. I was able to render the whole vid (over four and a half minutes) in HQ without having to break it up. _________________

I have 9 and it has snags here and there. But I'm glad you got a working version.
I HATE vista for the reason that I have so many bugs with Vegas. |
