CHICAGO (MarketWatch) -- Netflix Inc. said Tuesday that it would no longer offer unlimited plans that include both streaming and DVDs by mail. Users must now either subscribe to a stream-only plan, a DVD-only plan, or a combined plan. The unlimited streaming plan will remain at $7.99 a month. The price for obtaining both unlimited streaming and unlimited DVDs will be $15.98 a month ($7.99 + $7.99). For new Netflix members, the changes will be effective immediately. For existing members, the new pricing will start for charges on or after September 1. "Netflix members love watching instantly, but we've come to recognize there is still a very large continuing demand for DVDs by mail," said Andy Rendich, chief service and operations office for Netflix. "By better reflecting the underlying costs and offering our lowest prices ever for unlimited DVD, we hope to provide a great value to our current and future DVD-by-mail members." Netflix founder and Chief Executive Reed Hastings has said for some time that the DVD market would exist for at least another decade. Not every title available on DVD or Blu-ray is yet available for streaming, particularly older library titles of a type preferred by many of Netflix's core customers.\
I guess I'll go to Streaming only. I don't want to pay 15 dollars for both; that's why I had the 9.99 plan. |

Same here. People who were paying 20, now are paying 4 dollars more or so.
I think this might bit Netflix in the ass. |

I don't need both. I rent from Family Video and only used the 9.99 feature to rent out of date/hard to find movies to watch. I'll be sticking with streaming. I can't afford both.
But I might just cancel all together. I mean this company didn't even send emails; that's shady to me. This is something you email about.
I know that the 3 DVD's will go up 4 extra dollars. 23-24 dollars.
What I don't understand is they act like it's a good thing for the customers but I don't ssee anything regarding what we'll get out of it for paying extra or for being forced to downgrade.
I'm still peeved at their 'Wonder Years' post, saying it was going to be streaming. |

I didn't get one. It is annoying.
I feel like I am forced to either downgrade or pay more money for the same thing I was paying less for. I feel ripped off.
I don't care for the streaming selection tbh. Everything good I own; and everything I don't own I don't want to see. |
