I need help. I don't know what I clicked or pressed but when I hit mute it mutes EVERYTHING.

I don't know how or why this happened; I tried to mute everything to see if that would work but it wouldn't.

I need help.

I'm not sure I can help you or not. But does your computer have a mute button near where you turn the volume up or down? I've hit the mute button on my computer before and it'll mute any track (video or audio) that you're working on.

Another thing you might check is under the 'Options' tab there is a place that says 'mute all audio' and another that says 'mute all video'. You might make sure they haven't accidently been turned on.

I hope you're able to get the problem resolved.

When I click mute one track it mutes all of them even the video tracks. It's not the computer that's going it, its' Vegas.

I tried to do the 'Mute all video' and audio' last night but nothing as worked.

I don't know what the problem is.

Thanks for your help.

I've been doing some research but I haven't found much of anything helpful so far, sorry, Brooke! So let me try asking you a few questions.

Have you installed any new software/codecs/anything? Or are you pretty sure you hit a button somewhere by accident and then it started doing this? Does it do the same thing even if you start a new project?

Can you unmute the tracks that you don't want muted by hitting solo for them individually? (That's the ! that should be by the mute button.) Or does that just unmute them all?

Hopefully we can figure this out because I know how annoying it is when something suddenly stops working right and you're not really sure what happened to it!

Wow thanks for doing research you guys are awesome here.

Nope, I haven't installed anything new. I am pretty sure I just hit something and boom it happened.

Nope, when I start a new project it DOES NOT do it. So when I realized I had the same project saved under a different name, I just went onto using that.

I tried solo and solo doesn't work, when I hit mute after hitting solo it still unmutes or mutes everything at the same time.

I have a question, since it isn't doing it on all projects does that mean I hit something? Or it was just a glitch?

So the same project with the different name isn't doing that? *fingers crossed*

I've found that Vegas (or at least Vegas Movie Studio 6 ) keeps settings like that for every project. Like if you've hit the button that turns off crossfades, then it will be off on EVERY project, not just that one.

Also, I haven't been able to find that there's a command that would lock the mute/solo buttons together for all tracks, if you even wanted to be able to mute everything with one button. So those two things have me thinking that it was a glitch of some sort.

Here's hoping that it was a one time thing! And you're welcome, I'm glad to help if I can. I know how scary and frustrating it is when something like that just stops working and you have no idea why or how to get it started working again!

OH That makes me so happy!! Thank you!! Yeah, it didn't do it to any of the other projects. That's something I forgot. When I click on something it usually makes it for every project. I think I was just so freaked out by it.

P.S I finally bought Tron Legacy and watched it of course today.

Thanks for the help, Ais.

One of the video stores here is closing and sold it to me for 7.

It's so scary when things like that happen and you have no idea what's going on.
