They're right, this was the only way they could bring in "the gay one" without it being really stupid would be to first build a likable character, and then build it in. Kind of like Willow if you watch Buffy. Really clever plot twist if they add it too... hmmm
Lets think who's MOST likely to be gay:
Jack - In favor: Well duh. Still almost no move on Kate, despite her hints, and a wife who he mysteriously left?
Against: His Ana Lucia talk BPC, though he might have just been polite. The few moments where he kind of is with Kat. It would ruin the feature relationship! Jate! (and they BETTER not announce his sexuality before I finish my ultimate lovey-dovey Jate vid, is all I can say 
Boone: In favor: look at those eyes!
Against: Oh... he's dead already... hmmm...
Sun: in favor: look how she looked at Kate in the first episodes as she was bathing
Against: happilly... errrr...... semi-happily married
Claire: For: Well, all men are pigs, right? Plus, she in't too romantic with Charlie?
Against: Thomas. though she did just get out of that...
She was having a baby, no time to think about these things.
Sawyer: For: hiding his homosexuality behind his extreme heterosexuality maybe? Plus "the comment", and the women's sunglasses...
Against: his extreme heterosexuality
Kate: for: she's a sexual predator, thus why her mother is afraid of her ()
Micheal: well, Damon DID say!
Hurley: well, that would be kinda a surprise, wouldn't it? |

I tried to post this last night but I got thrown offline so far that I couldn't get back to LVI!   But, ha ha, I know the wicked ways of dial-up and had written the post in Word where it would be safe! So, without further ado...

And as for the glasses, hey, it was probably all a set-up for his migraines and he just grabbed for the first pair of sunglasses he came across. 
Also, only a man truly secure in himself could wear orange sunglasses, you know...

Trey, to me, it's probably because Locke is largely asexual and dysfunctional, from all that we have seen of him. He couldn't hack it with Peg Bundy, and he wound up spending a good deal of chump change on a phone sex girl. The whole 'phone sex' thing to me is irrelevant morally (do whatever you want to, I think, as long as it's with a consenting adult or, if you're a teenager, teenager of similar age) - but it does tell me that he's not very sexual in his real life (and a failure in real life in many other respects as well), and that's probably why seeing him in anything slashy feels bizarre. That's the best explanation I can find, anyway.

Agreed, for the same reasons. Seeing videos where characters act blatantly out of canon, unless it's a humor video, boggles me. Sometimes, I wonder if some of those videos come from the same shows as I watch. I'm not saying they're necessarily wrong - in some cases, I admire their inventiveness if they're well-done - but I can never quite understand it.

Yeah. I think Ana's comment was more of just a dig to snark back at him than anything else, and Shannon and Boone's thing sounded more like schoolkid teasing to me, like the sort of thing you would do to piss off your annoying saintly brother whom everyone adores.
There haven't been any characters that have even been bisexual, let alone gay, that have been acknowledged/explicit, and that just seems very weird, given how representative the show is in just about every other facet of a person.
Edit: In rereading the start of this thread, with the Damon Lindelof quote, WTF? There wasn't any introduction of an explicitly gay character in S2, and barely an introduction of one - all depending on how you read a single comment - in S3. Way to go, Damon!

Tom was absolutely gay. And he was introduced in S1 finale lol. But you're right it never was explicit. But if you re-watch his first scene with kate in s3 he very obviously tells her she's not his type... as in he doesn't dig chicks. lol. And then he prances around a bit in the operating room with Jack. LOL. Which is, of course, definitive proof. LOL.
I think the lost writers are just not following through though, OBVIOUSLY Tom is not who they meant lol.
