kay, so I was just chilling on my laptop and this popped up:

WARNING message from BT File sharing activity has been detected on 01--- --- ---. Further activity of this nature may result in prosecution. All in/out comms now monitored as a result.

Does this mean they found me downloading shiz? Deffo stopping. but I just wanna check, 'cos I don't wanna get my parents sued

I haven't been able to find any instances of that exact warning so I'm not sure if that was a legit message from your Internet provider or from some other "real" source. Were you downloading something at that time? Had you clicked on anything? If so or if you had a bit-torrent client open and seeding, then I'd be wary of using that same program again, just in case.

If you weren't downloading something or hadn't clicked on anything, I'd suggest running a scan with all of your security programs (anti-virus then anything like Malwarebytes that you have for anti-spyware, if you have it ). Sometimes a virus or worm can hit you with a message like that. In fact, I'd suggest running them anyway, just to be careful.

*fingers crossed that everything will be okay*

I'd been watching a video in YouTube, so I thought they'd have seen that, but I'm pretty sure YT is legal

No - I use stuff like MegaUpload. I import the links into JDownloader which downloads it for me.

I was on LVI, SpoilerTV and YT. And it popped up kinda on it's own.

My first suggestion would be with Aislynn. I would run a virus scan to check for possible trojan viruses. If it didn't pop up through the internet, that is really fishy.

Adaware works well if you don't have it already. It's free to download if you just google it.

Is advast a free anti-virus? If it is, there's a chance it could have not picked up the virus signature. My laptop got a terrible virus on it when I was running AVG Free and it didn't pick it up. I asked a guy that is good with computers and he said that I'd need to buy a 2010 anti-virus (even if just the cheapest one) to get rid of it.

I set it to do a full system scan before booting up the computer, so that the virus didn't have time to hide. It found and deleted two, but I might run another scan with another software just to make sure.

That's good that it found something (well, not good good, of course ) because then hopefully that was a bogus message and not actually The Man about to come down on you and your parents!

I'd suggest definitely running another scan to be sure, since you don't want to chance any little bit of anything being left behind (some viruses can restore themselves just from having one little piece of itself left on your computer, argh! ).

Well hopefully that was the cause of the message... Did you happen to look at what kind of viruses they were?

Yeah - one was a trojan, one was a spy.
