Yeh, Judas is there This is the painting by Da Vinci. Not the original, but a clearer version i learned about the paiting in art class. Im pretty sure its supposed to depicts the reactions of each of the 12 apostles when Jesus tells them he'll be betrayed by one of them:

Ok, according to looking around online here's what I found

From left to right, the first three are Bartholomew, James and Andrew (they would be Ilana, Richard and Claire in the Lost one), are supposed to be shocked at this news that Jesus claims he'll be betrayed by one of them :S

The next three, Sayid, Kate and Sawyer, are said to be Peter, Judas, and John. Judas is the guy with his arm on the table, which in the Lost pic would be Kate. Ironically, Judas was the apostle who kept charge of the money and stuff, and was the one who did betray Jesus to the romans

Locke is clearly meant to portray christ :S

Next three, jack, Jin and Ben would be Thomas, James and Philip. Thomas (jack) is said to be upset, James(Jin) is said to be stunned, and Philip (Ben) is said to be requesting an explanation.

And the last three, Sun, Miles and Frank would be Matthew, Jude and Simon. In the original, Matthew and Jude are looking to Simon for help or something, but they aren't really doing that in the Lost promo.

Yay, Kat, glad I'm not the only one who doesn't like this. I'm not athiest, I've been raised to be Christian but I'm not sure exactly, I guess I'm more agnostic but I am interested in religion, and I'm trying to decide whether this is offensive or not?! I mean, comparing Locke to Christ? Hmm?

Anyway, I'm probably over thinking it and this is clearly just my opinion.

And thanks for the explanations on who's supposed to be who! I did a bit of research on the original too for art class last year and we were talking a bit about the whole Mary Magdalene theory, who was supposed to be pregnant with Jesus' baby etc etc (you know where the whole Da Vinci Code thing came from!) and that's why I mentioned it :S

I think its totally veering away from what Lost has normally been about. Unless Jacob (whom of which is a religious name) has previously been symbolized as a 'God' and this may indicate that Locke will take up his place...Since Ben brutally murdered Jacob. But since Locke is dead...maybe its Jacob's rival who inhabited his body who will take control of the Island as he had always wanted to.
Seeing as the statue that Jacob lived under was the Egyptian God Taweret, who spookily holds two ankhs in its hands of which the 'ankh' in Egyptian characters means ''eternal life'' which may give some weight to the reason behind hieroglyphs in the Swan's 108 timer and why Richard and Jacob seem to have lived for many years and stayed young. They must obviously not be human but rather what Jacob was and what Locke presumably will be...
And this dispute between Jacob and his enemy has some sort of religious feel to it, like the mood, setting and what entities they are supposed to be feels like something out of the Bible...

I'll put this all as a spoiler as I have just found some weird links to my theory - if you call it that

Spoiler: The boy's name Jacob \j(a)- cob\ is pronounced JAY-kub. It is of Hebrew origin, and its meaning is "he who supplants". Also possibly from "la-aqov" (hence, Yaakov) meaning "to track or follow". Biblical: the son of Isaac and Rebekah and twin brother of Esau. Jacob fathered 12 sons and a daughter Maybe this enemy of Jacob is actually his brother Esau.. and since we know that Jacob has fathered a daughter who is one of the Losties/Ajiras - I won't say who here from wiki "Jacob resettled his whole family in Egypt," There is also talk on wiki and other various sites that Jacob bought Esau's inheritance, as Jacob wasn't the elder of the twins and wouldn't have received it otherwise...With loads of talk as Esau as an exile from God for his weakness etc etc None of this may be specific to Lost as a storyline but its boding well on the religious connotations for Locke.
