Lately sony vegas has been running really slow on my pc. its annoying it lags every like 2 min. Sometimes itll be fine but not for long. so i cant get a good preview of what i edit before rendering cause it keeps stalling the vid in the preview. What can i do to make it faster?

I notice this every now and again. Are you using AVI files? That'll slow it down. Sometimes I'm using them and it works fine; others it takes aaaagggeeesss. Also, do you have lots of things open? That makes Vegas work harder/slower. Has your comp been on awhile? I find that tends to make Vegas drag too

yea i try to use vegas when i first turn on my pc but even then its as slow as if i had it on for hrs lately now. and yea i use avi files but it is slow for all the vids, whether they are avi files or all files that ive ripped with dvd shrink. and i always only have vegas open when i use ever since its been so slow, but yea, i dont know what other solution to do.

only thing i can think is maybe i dont have enough space and need more ram?

Are you using a lot of special effects? that tends to slow the preview down. I tend to put any effects that can be on the whole track. then you can click disable effects on the track to see what it looks like. Also make sure you put it as draft in the preview window.

More RAM is a good way to go but I have a lot of RAM and I still manage to overload Vegas. Vegas 8 and 9 seem to be particularly unstable compared to 7.0e so I'm sticking with that one.

no thats what sucks i havent even got to add effects yet. i do that at the very end since vegas is so slow with simple edits already. so no its not effects.

maybe i should mention i only have 20 percent space left on my pc out of 1gb. i guess thats bad? its the only reason i could think of.

oh yeh, lack of space will definitely slow it down since Vegas uses video files and the graphic use really slows down your comp.
