I'm always the last one to the party... Thanks so much for your help, SimbiAni! Wow, that was impressive how you dug out that link! Were you able to get the vid okay, Vicky?

Aislynn, would you mind uploading this vid to YSI as I would love to save it to my collection (if you don't mind)... it would be muchly appreciated.

also may I ask how you did those black and white rectangle thingys at the beginning and the end

Of course I don't mind, Vicky! I'm totally honored!

And how I did that effect on the opening and closing titles... Don't know if you're familiar with something like Paintshop Pro, so hope it won't sound like I'm talking gibberish! Anyway, I made a second copy of the original pic and used a chrome effect on it (it was actually kinda interesting all on its own, IMO! ). Then I made a ton of copies of the original pic and put them on top of the chrome pic. I made up a template so that I would erase equal parts of each pic, then removed 4 places on each pic so that the chrome showed through. (I hope that makes sense... )

I had to turn the layers on and off selectively through this process, so that you didn't see all of the pics with each of their erased/chrome parts showing at the same time. I saved each of the "shots" as a series ("Jack1, Jack2 and so on) until I had a set for Jack, Kate and Sawyer (and one of the pic of the 3 of them at the end).

I imported all of them into Animation Shop, where I fiddled with the timing, ran the sets both forward and backwards (so it looks like the "chrome light beam" or whatever you want to think of it as is going in both directions) then eventually saved them as a .gif and imported them into WMM. Eventually I went back and added a few more "doctored" pics to give it that shaking effect.

The end credits alone are close to 70 frames long, BTW! Because I had to have a set with Jack, Kate and Sawyer alone, then had to factor in the credits that appear while the chrome light effect thing is running! Yes, I'm fairly insane to come up with things like this! But at least I've gotten pretty quick at doing these sorts of things. I've found it's all just a matter of really thinking it out before you just jump in and start fooling around with the pics. I took about a week just to consider how best to handle all of those layers and how to most efficiently (for me anyway!) create that chrome effect.

And I'm sure that answers your question in a LOT more detail than you really wanted! Hope it wasn't mind-numbingly boring!!!

Thanks for asking! And thanks again, SimbiAni, for putting up that link!
