I have problems loading my video onto youtube. I use WMV format, and it's usually never under 5 minutes. I don't know what to do.

I often have to render in two pieces, put it back together in Windows Movie Maker and then publish that video, and then upload it to youtube. But it is taking forever.

I tried to render to youtube through Sony Vegas but everytime I would do that, it would kill my internet connection and stop working.

Does anyone have any pointers? I would really like to get my video onto youtube. I have tried all day.

Do you try uploading through the editing program to YT? Every time I've tried that it's screwed up so I don't do that anymore. I'd render a hard copy of your video and then load that into youtube

I recommend that as well. That also gives you the chance to watch your rendered vid in Windows Media Player to make sure that no glitches or stray clips or whatever might've occurred so you can correct it before you upload it to Youtube. (I can't even tell you how many times I've rendered something, thinking it was totally done, only to catch a glaring mistake or other glitchy thing as soon as I can see the full rendered version. )

Ok; don't load through WMM or Vegas to Youtube. That's where I think the problem is. Render your video so its just a stand alone WMV file. And then go to YouTube and upload the file by itself, not through WMM or Vegas.

You mean render my video in WMV format, go to upload through youtube and go through 'renders' in vegas?

Once your vid is rendered into WMV, you can just go to Youtube's site itself and there's a yellow button on the right that says "Upload." Clicking that will give you a window where you browse for your rendered vid, then just click upload and wait for it to do its thing!

Yeah, like Ais said, upload through the Youtube website. DON'T try uploading through WMM or Vegas. Have your WMV version on your Desktop or somewhere easily accessible and then go to Youtube and through the upload section.

But I need to render it through Sony. And then upload, right?

You render until you get the WMV copy, yes. But you don't then go through Vegas or WMM to put it to YT.

Yep, go through File - Render as in Vegas and once that's done, you'll have a WMV file on your computer that you can view through Media Player. Once you have that, then surf over to Youtube through your browser and find the Upload button, then find your WMV file. Like Kat suggested, you can move it once you're done with the rendering out onto the desktop or into some other easily accessible folder (I keep a folder just for my vids so it's easy to find them ), then go to Youtube and do the uploading.

I don't mean to keep pestering you. But sometimes it wont let me render it. It gives me the 'error' and only letes me render it in sections.

Oh, it's not pestering at all, hon! Sometimes these things just don't quite work the way they're supposed to. I remember now that you've had trouble with it not wanting to let you render the whole vid at one time.

In that case, render it in pieces, then import the pieces into a new project in Vegas and try rendering it as a whole vid there. That should do the trick, hopefully! *fingers crossed*

Then once you have a rendered WMV version of your entire vid, then try uploading it to Youtube via their Upload button.

I was able to render the entire thing and it's on my computer but Youtube wont upload it. They keep saying there is an error.

Hmmmm... Make sure that it actually is the rendered file and not the Vegas project file that ends in .vf or .veg, that's an easy one to do.

Here's an example looking at my project folder through the Youtube uploader. The one that's highlighted is the .WMV. You can tell it by the blue symbol next to the name. The orange looking symbol underneath it is the Vegas project file and Youtube won't allow you to upload that.

If you're sure you've got the rendered .WMV version and you get an error again, you might want to screencap the error or at least jot down what the error says specifically, that might give us a clue as to what's going wrong.
