Lost Video Island

In readyness for the first episode of the season (named the same as this thread, btw!), lets have a poll!

Although Locke is my favourite character, I don't actually believe that the Island has some special task for him, or whatever he's babbling about. I love his character for the psychology of him trying to find the purpose to his life. But overall, I think there's still a way to explain everything that happens on the island through conventional means, so I would be on Jack's side. Science can still explain.

Ahem, anyway. If I knew I was on a TV show, then I'd stick with Locke. Paranormal/supernatural things are bound to be running amuck on the Island somewhere and I'd want good ol' "I've seen into the eye of the Island" John Locke on my side.

Although, on that note, I really think they're gonna give us the old "Look, it's a paranormal monster! Ha ha! No, just kidding! It's really just an old oil rig making that noise! Hold on, as it turns out, all of the boars on the Island are actually intergalactic travelers from Dimension X and now their people are coming to invade planet Earth out of anger of how their peaceful envoys were killed, skinned and eaten!!!"

Something like that. But, were this real life and I really was stuck on an Island with my choice of Doctor Jack or Locke, Man With A Thousand Knives, I'd go with Jack. He may not always succeed, but he is usually trying to do things to keep everybody alive and well. Plus, he's a doctor and Mom always hoped I'd marry a doctor... Wait, this isn't the "Who would you want to date?" poll, now is it... Uh, forget that last part...

So I'd be on Jack's team, though I'd still do my very, very best to stay on Locke's good side. 'Cause the man can at least use a few of them thousand knives to make sure you get some protein to eat every now and again...

Seriously...I wouldn't go with either. (People always seem to hate it when I pop into Jack v. Locke as leader discussions and insist that I don't want either for a leader. Too bad. I'm saying it anyway.

Jack is...uhm...a nice guy? Mostly? But he has a bad habit of keeping secrets from people...and of creating divisions where there don't have to be any...and of making executive decisions...and if I were on the Island I think his vanishing during the water crisis (White Rabbit) would probably count against him, regardless of the fact that he found fresh water because of it.

Locke is...from a strictly Island viewpoint...just plain creepy. Those knives...Okay, yes, he's the only hunter on the Island. So I'd want to stay on his good side. But follow him? Uh-uh. And need I remind you...Boone.

So. I wouldn't follow either. I would, however, follow Hurley, who is my choice as Island leader. He's smart, has good people skills, gets along with most everyone, can organize things on the spur of the moment, built the golf course, has the power of The Numbers on his side, and come on...we all know that his last name is "Reyes" for a reason. (Reyes = Spanish name meaning "king")
