Hi, you might not know me, but I've been a member for a while now. I usually comment people's vids but have yet to post any myself and this is my first topic in the forums .
I am in the making of my first video. So far I have ripped many clips from my DVDs onto my computer, and I was wondering what does everyone do when they are done with the clips. Do you keep them for your next vid or delete them or do you limit yourself to only ripping the most essential clips for a vid? I am asking because they take up a lot of room on my computer. Thanks for your help in advance! _________________

Well, personally when it comes to Lost, I rip full episodes at a time. Because I know if I need them again it'll be really annoying to go and rip them all over again. But I have two external hard drives and all my Lost eps are on one so they don't clog up my computer. Back when I used to download clips, I had the space problem because I didn't have my external hard drives, and I found that I would delete the ones from Evi and Josh's sites because they were easy enough to download all over again _________________

Maybe I'll use my external hard drive then. I never thought of that. Thanks! _________________

I burn everything I use as vidding source material to CD or (preferably, since they hold so much more ) DVD, then I can take off what I don't need when I need more room on my hard drive and can restore it easily if I should need it back again. That way I still "have" everything without having to download it again but don't have it taking up room since I don't have an external, just my main hard drive. |

LOL. I did the same thing Kat. Delete the ones that were on EVi and Josh's site.
But for Christmas I got a external drive; I think it is awesome for any vidder to own one especially if you don't want to part with your clips. Because some clips are a rare find.
I keep my clips on my external hard drive and when I make a video I open a file in pictures and put the ones I will use for the video in there in case I take my laptop with me anywhere. And when I am done making the video I delete the folder since I have them stored on my Eternal hard drive. |
