I use Vegas Movie Studio as well but I leave my render settings on "Original size" because that's the way I like them (which makes my Lost vids 428x240). Some of my older YouTube vids don't quite fit their new screen because they were made 320x240 so they're square (which is what Windows Movie Maker used to make them). So if your original footage is in one of the square ratios already (320x240 or 640x480) I'm not really sure how best to set it so that you render in the correct ratio to fill Youtube's now widescreened shape without it distorting your footage itself.

Do you know what size your footage is (your Lost episodes or clips)? You can right-click a clip on the timeline and choose properties and it should tell you the height and width dimensions. Also, what settings are you using to render your vids now? Are you choosing a size like 320x240 or keeping the original footage size? And what about the project properties (you can see them under your preview window)? Those are all things that effect the final "shape" of your vid.

Sorry not to be better help! Hopefully somebody who knows a little more about getting their vids into the widescreen shape without distorting it can chime in!
