Alright.

Hi everyone! Wow, I don't know when the last time I was in the forum was!!

Anyway, my question is, what is all this business about YouTube not allowing you to "use certain songs"? Do you register the song in your vids? I've never done that, and I've never had videos taken down because of the song/musical content. I sometimes write the name of the song in the description, but not very often... is that it? I don't get it. Why not just upload the videos without letting YT know that there is a song at all?

Just a little confused.

They have software now that can screens the f irst 30 seconds of your video to tell if it has copyrighted material.

Yeah they can scan songs now =/
I think they have something else as well because even with an intro they knew my new vid was 'Let Me Sign' by Rob Pattz and took it down

Linkin Park, for example, is now a no-no in fanvids. All of my vids to their songs were removed. Also Michael Bublé and Joseph Arthur.

Well, that sucks. I guess this means that all the songs I choose aren't really that mainstream, because I haven't had anything taken down for copyright infringement with this account *knocks on wood*. Hopefully it will stay that way.

Yeah thats why, it really depends on who has the rights of the song and depending what their link with youtube is on their copyright thing, as certain companies will allow a vid up with an ad, some will only allow vids up in certain countries and some will just automatically reject =/

I think also they may have got around the 30 sec rule now as some vids with intros still are getting rejected =/

I know Nickelback gets after people (I haven't had the problem though, thankfully), and I got an intimidating PM from "the copyright police"

saying basically that I had to take my vid with a Bryan Adams song down or else.
