Okay, so I live a double life. There's the studious Maria that does work and does nothing more about TV than what's on at the moment. Then there's the other Maria that vids, fanfics, and makes fanart. I like to keep the two separate. My family, especially, knows nothing about the second Maria. Not that I'm ashamed by it, but sometimes I think they'd be angry with me for "wasting time."

My brother came home a few months ago and we now share this computer. He's the admin and I have my own account (not really private as he can see what's going on).

BUT I want to vid again. I kind of miss it (even if I rarely have time for it and I have no clips at all!)

Does anyone know of a way that I can install Vegas so only I could see it?? Is it even possible? Basically, I need to keep all my vidding equipment private!

Thanks for any help. It's much appreciated.

Hmmm, that I really don't know about but I'll be glad to look into it and see what I can find out! ('Cause I definitely want you vidding ASAP! ) What's the operating system, XP or Vista?

Vidding's a loose term. Right now, it's "let's get Vegas back on board and see what happens."

XP is the system.

Thanks, hon! ♥

I'll take what I can get, lol!

Here's the first thing I found but it's seems that that would only try to prevent another user from running the program but not from knowing it was even there. And I suspect you'd have to have admin privileges to set it up like that to begin with...

I've found a few other more dodgy processes but you have to be the admin to do any of them. And it was still more about keeping other users from running the program, rather than just keeping them from seeing it was even there.

Hmmm, I presume if it was this easy you wouldn't have asked about this in the first place but can you get your brother on your side on this? Or can you give vidding a much more fancy and legitimate-sounding spin, like saying you're considering learning professional video editing?

Anyway, hopefully somebody more computer savvy than me has a better solution! I'll keep poking around and seeing if there's anything out there but I suspect that the fact that he's the admin of the computer is going to mean it's fairly difficult to hide a program from him. But I don't know that for sure! *fingers crossed for a potential new Maria vid sometime soon* ♥!

OH! I forgot to mention that I can get into his admin account (he doesn't have it password protected. At least, he didn't.) That's how I've installed Vegas in the past.

I'll take a look at those things, Ais. Thanks again. *huggles*

so your ashamed about being a vidder? theres nothing to be ashamed about. Its not your choice, you were born that way. Just accepting it will make u feel soo much better. You really need to come out of the closet to your family about this, its not something you should hide. (get the joke? )
