lol, i think i know what you're doing

see where it asks you to put in the code? and when you open a file in avic XVID or DIVX comes up in the Description code? well, in the Used Codec space you want to reverse it. So if the description code is DIVX you want to type XVID in the Used codec space and vice versa.

and it is caps sensitive so if its in caps, keep it in caps lemme know if that works!

No, that didn't work Tried it in upper and lower case. This might be the problem though; when I open up a file in avic it comes up like this

hmm, thats not supposed to happen. :S:S have you tried it with another file or different episode? just to see if it works. cos if it does then the error might be with that particular BSG ep:P

Yeah, I've tried it with different eps of s1. Exactly the same thing comes up.

Ooh, it's different with S2.....

UGH. I entered "DIVX" in "Used", opened it on Vegas and it's sort of there, it doesn't say "offline" in the trimmer but it's like 'invisible' and when I imported some on the timeline it says it's offline there :'(

Grrr, BOONE!

Boone indeed!!! try it in lower case. that's what i meant about it being case sensitive. oh, i put caps sentitive up there ^^^ sos. if its in lower case, keep it in lower case. if its in caps, keep it there. try it again for that season 2 one and put 'divx' in lower case and see what happens

It won't let me open it up in the trimmer at all then I scroll down and the option isn't in black anymore if you know what I mean. Sorry. I don't know what it is about me and technology! It seems to hate me!

lol, thats ok! what do you mean the option isn't in black? do you mean like the episode? cos once you change the code you have to re-import it into vegas. its kinda like when you delete or move a clip on your comp then open a vegas project and you have to import it again, if you know what i mean

Sorry, I'm rubbish at explaining stuff;

Do I need to import it? I've just been using "explorer" instead of importing them.

Oh, Kat, that sucks! I hope you get that sorted out soon! Have you added any new codec packs or put on any other new programs recently? Sometimes it can be something totally unrelated that's messed things up! Also, if it does it again and you can jot down any part of the error numbers or message that it gives you, that's something you can search and will often give you a clue as to what might be going wrong. (I keep a notepad and pencil handy by the computer just for that very reason.)

I've had terrible luck with System Restore, not with it messing anything up, but every time I've tried it, I get the same message when the computer restarts: "System Restore failed; this computer could not be reset to an earlier date." Well, then, what's the point of System Restore, then if it never works??? I know it's saved a lot of people but I've never gotten it to work right for me, unfortunately.

Good luck, hon!

ais, managed to read the message, its still coming up LOADS :S:S:S and it tells me to disable caching and shadowing in BIOS. Does anyone have any idea how to do that??? :S:S

ok, Compositing Mode. Is there a way to get it on a single clip only? The way I'm doing it now is the whole timeline but that sucks cos then every clip has to have an overlay or you can't see it :S and I just want to overlay some clips; is there a way to add a compositing mode onto just one clip?
