|

I am trying to use the picture in picture effect on Sony Vegas 8.
I read the Sony Vegas guide and I learned from that how to get both pictures to appear at the same time but I am having trouble getting the superimposed image in the right place.
I went to the picture in picture effect and chose the circle cut,I placed it on the clip where I wanted it.But when I go to position the other clip in the circle it still comes out as a small rectangle,I'd like it to appear behind the circle.
I'm trying to get the main full sized clip to show Jack.I want to have a scene of Kate run in the little circle.
Right now I have the Jack clip on the lower video track and the Kate one on the video overlay track. Is that correct or backwards from how I should have it?

Hm, it sounds like you're doing everything correctly. Yes, your "base" clip of Jack should be on the lower track with Kate's overlay on the upper one. Are you applying the cookie cutter to Kate's clip, not Jack's? (I'm presuming that Vegas 8 still uses the cookie cutter to create split-screens and overlays ) I've done that before when I'm setting up a split-screen/overlay and realized I accidentally drug the effect to the wrong clip.
If that's not it, then I'm not quite sure what it could be, honestly! If the effect is showing up on Kate's clip, with the circle like you want, the only other thing I can think of is that the circle might be too large and if you've used the pan/crop to make Kate's clip smaller (as well as place it where you want it to be) it could end up being inside the circle so far that all you see is the original clip's rectangular edges. So if you find the effect IS on her clip, try changing the size of the circle and see if it suddenly appears when you make it smaller. |

Aislynn, I took your tips and went back and found what I was doing wrong and got the effects to show up how I wanted them to.
Thanks for the help.
