Ugh, isn't that annoying? I don't know of anything that Vegas can do, though the full version has an audio editing component to it that Baby Vegas doesn't have, so there might be something there that I don't know about! I know there's a program out there that lets you strip the audio off of a DVD and break it down into channels, then you can remove all of the channels except for the one with the voices on it, which greatly cuts down the background noises. It wouldn't work if you're using downloaded eps or clips though, only if you're stripping the actual DVD itself. It's also not a free program. Argh, I can't remember its name! If you're interested, I'll do some digging and see if I can't find it again!

Hey there, Fjorton! One way I know that should work is to right-click your first clip, then select copy. Then hold the shift key down and click the second clip, then the last clip you want to have that effect on, right-click and select "paste attributes." That should apply that effect to all of those clips as well.
However, that will apply ALL of the effects from that first clip onto the rest of them as well, so if you have something on it, like say if you've zoomed in with the pan/crop tool on the first clip, then all of them wiill have the same zoom on them as well. Just something to keep in mind. You can reset the pan/crop tool normal, then copy/paste attributes again in that same way and that will return the rest of the clips to normal or you can just take all the effects and such off of the first clip before you copy it that you don't want the rest of them to have, then go back and edit the first clip how you want it after you've done the copy/paste attributes thing.
Hope that all makes sense! |

First: Hej Fjorton! Trevligt med lite fler svenskar här! Haha! du får gärna adda mig på msn om du vill, kolla min profil
Second: I've just gotten Vegas 8.0 (pro) in a birthday-gift from all my friends... and so now I've started learing this all over again, since I haven't had the time to vid
So far I've solved most things by myself, but I have two questions (really dummy-ish ones):
1. Can I move my downloaded seasons of Lost and House to a portable hard-drive (which is always plugged-in) and still be able to use the subclips from those episodes that I move from one place to anotehr? I know WMM didn't like that, is Vegas the same? I had to buy a portable one even though my computer has a lot of memory... I have way too many pics and videos, lol
2. The little preview window - it's hanging up at certain places in my vid. Like in the beginning of a subclip. Dunno how to explain it but what does that mean? That I have too little RAM? Cause I've got 3 GB now, lol. And how do you make the thing bigger?
Well... now I'll just go wait for an answer... Ais? _________________

If you have a vid in progress and then move your episodes, then your clips will disappear in your project as well. It's kinda like when you put things in Vegas and trim out clips and put them on the timeline, Vegas refers to the pathway of where the original episode is at almost like it's an address: C:\My Documents\My Videos\Lost\Season 1\1x01 Pilot.avi would kinda be an example of where it was "looking" for the source for all of the subclips you're using from that episode. So if you move that episode to E:\Lost\Season 1\1x01 Pilot.avi for example, then it will no longer be at the address where Vegas expects to find it. I hope that makes sense, lol! So it will ask you to browse for every one of the source episodes that's being used in the project.
I'd suggest waiting until you finish the vid you're working on if you possibly can, then move the episodes before you start another vid. Then when you import them in, you'll be getting them from its "new address." I have heard of people having trouble using their source material off of an external drive but I'm sure other people do it just fine.

My Vegas Movie Studio hangs on most of my previewing, especially when I'm about to finish a vid (the one I just finished hung up so badly I had to do the last 16 seconds completely "blind," it couldn't preview anything at all anymore! ). I've found that the preview hangs more when I use .AVI, as well as when I've got a lot of effects or transitions or just when I have a lot of clips on the timeline. I have to rely on spot rendering at those times (do you know how to do that? You highlight the portion you want to render, then use "render as" with the "render loop region" box checked and that way you don't have to render the whole project just to check the timing on one section. ).
For making the preview window bigger, in my Vegas Movie Studio, there's a button right above the preview window... let me find a screencap...
See right above Sawyer in the preview window where it says Preview (full)? When you click that button, it has a pull-down menu where you can choose between Draft, Preview and something else (sorry, don't have my Vegas up right now ) and that changes the size of the preview as well as the quality of it. Now, Vegas Movie Studio 6 and Vegas pro 8 may not have the same controls, of course. So if you don't have that button, you might try Vegas' help button and look up "preview" in its Index. You might find out where the controls for it are at that way. You can also grab the edges of all of the "windows" in Vegas and resize them, so if you want the preview section larger, you just drag the edge over and it'll make something else smaller to make room for it. Again, that's how my VMS works, anyway!
Hope that was able to help a little! |

Thanks Ais! That actually helped a lot
As much as I want to do a Lost vid as a first Vegas one, I'm currently working on a House vid Just to test some stuff and see what Vegas can do. Might finish this year, lol No but seriously, Vegas is a lot more complicated (...maybe that's why they call it "pro", lol).
I'll make sure to come back when I've got any trouble.
For now, big thankies! _________________

Hey; I do it this way. you can do it with any effect to make it go on every clip you put in the timeline. and if you have one or two or a few clips you dont want to have the effect (sometimes i want some to just be black and white and have no other colour) then you can just make another timeline because the effects don't transfer over the two timelines
drag the effect, whatever is is wether it be colour or whatever (i am aware i used a transition; forgive me it doesn't work with transitions but with Video FX it works with all of them ). anyway; drag the effect onto the line that my arrow is pointing exactly on and it'll make every clip in that timeline have that effect its handy cos you dont have to worry about again _________________

Hey I need help again, lol. I can't create a subclip with one special episode. It's an .AVI episode that can go into the trimmer but when I've made the subclip it says it's "offline"? I've heard Vegas donät like AVI's too much but the other ones have worked just fine... this is the problem (a picture says more than a 1000 words, right? )

Hey, if you right click the clip in the video track and then click Reverse |

Aislynn's way is a cool thing to know hot to do but when you want everything the same colour the easiest thing to do is drag your color effect and put it on the preview window and it adds it to the project. Then there's a little button on top of the preview window that shows you what video effects have been added to the project. _________________
