Cool, Erin! I did know JB was a real person, but I didn't know anything about him.
Yeah, I've noticed that Lost has 'stolen' many philosophers'/scientists' names over the years. hehe I figured out that Faraday's name was significant pretty early on, Locke and Cooper's too. There are tons. I used to actually look up the names of new characters in Lost every time we were introduced to them, to see if there was any historical significance. Wow, do I need a life, or what?
Oh, and thanks for the awesome hint, Trey!! I sooo thought that a famous philosopher was named "wolffootball37" but I guess I was wrong. lol Shows how much I know. _________________

I knew from the beginning that John Locke's name was stolen from a philosopher. But I didn't know just how many others were also taken from famous philosophers.
You really got to hand it to the writers for their attention to detail!
The name Jeremy Bentham sounded familiar to me, but after the show when I read up on him, ooooohhhh - I got flashbacks to my evil, evil literary analysis class my last year of college.
We read up a lot on the whole concept of the Panopticon, which was a JB invention.....
Damn you Lost for making me remember that evil mind-explodingly difficult class.... _________________
