Hopefully anyone knows about this, but on Vegas you can change the pitch of the audio (ie chipmunk-land) by changing an option in Vegas preferences called "preserve pitch when stretching events". What I want to do is change the pitch, but keep the length of the audio the same. The only way I know how to do that is first disable the pitch preserving, squash the audio shorter, render the clip, then bring that clip back in, after I change the option back to preserve pitch, and stretch it longer, then re-render. The result, as with any stretching of audio on Vegas, is a slightly crumbly effect on the audio quality because it's being slowed down, for some reason. Is there any way I can keep the audio its original length and still change the pitch, so that the quality is smooth? _________________

Right click on the audio clip, then on the menu click on Apply Non-Real-Time Event FX.
That will bring up a new window.
Open the Sony folder.
Click Pitch Shift then click the okay button.
This will open the pitch shift window.
I am horrible with audio, but I know if you alter the pitch too much it will cause a lot of clicking and weird sounds, so be careful. No idea what all those controls are so just play around with them until you get your desired effect. Maybe someone else on here knows a little more about audio and stuff.
Hope this is what you were looking for. |

Wow, that menu opened me up to all sorts of new options I just had to try. A lot of them are really professional and useful. I ought to stop being scared of this software and take out some free time to experiment with all kinds of stuff.
I tried the pitch thing, but it still sounds bad. May try playing with it more later. _________________
