|
|
This is moved over from the YouTube screengrab discussion. This whole iMeem thing came about after my video was removed from YouTube. I was trying to find a better place where I could upload (and then embed to a website - my livejournal).
iMeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeem!
I know youtube it hot shit and everything. But I'm personally thinking of ditching them and going with iMeem full time.
First of all, they destroy the quality of the videos you upload. Not only with their shitty flash conversion, but also by entirely ignoring your AP and stretching your vid to suit their will.
Check this out: http://superkc.imeem.com/
iMeem maintains your Aspect Ratio (note the difference between Monsters and I Feel Fine) and has the coolest frickin' "preview shot" ever. It's a collage of 9 different shots from your video.
Now that? Is cool. And so much less clunky than youtube, plust you can embed the media just like in YouTube.
(Embeddable media!)

Finally, the playback quality at iMeem is SO GOOD. So good! It makes YouTube look like a bunch of friggin' chumps!
I vote for hostile takeover of LVI by iMeem. Haha. Is that wrong?
PS - I have seen other folks in other fandoms (Supernatural) using iMeem for several months now.
Another plus. YouTube is such a money-maker and so much in the spotlight, that your vids are probably much more likely to be removed there than at another place for copyright infringement.
VIVA LA REVOLUTION!

Thanks for posting this! I've been annoyed by youtube as well, and iMeem seems really good! _________________

Uploads "process" faster. I think about two minutes after I uploaded I got the e-mail saying that the vid was up.
I guess I should do some actual research about fanvids and how iMeem handles them. But I presume since I've seen it used in the SPN fandom that it's fairly okay.
*shrug*
Who wants to do the grunt-work? LOL. |

I also just noticed that if you do a search in iMeem. There is only one screengrab that comes up. Same kind of problem with YouTube. But if you point your mouse over the picture? It flashes through the ENTIRE video.
OMG! *luffs imeem liek woah* |

Wow, the quality of the vids is indeed very good! That's what I always hated most about Youtube, that it messes up the quality of your vids.
Are there any limitations to an iMeem account (how many vids or MB you are allowed to upload)?? _________________

Quote: | Are there size limitations for videos?
No, but the upload time cannot exceed one hour. |
For some STRANGE reason, one of my videos was about 41 MBs. I think it uploaded in about 10 minutes? Not bad!
Quote: | What formats are supported for videos?
imeem supports most formats but recommends .MPEG, .MOV, .FLV, AND .AVI for best results. |
It does NOT however, indicate in the FAQ if there is a limitation on how MANY vids you can upload.
I'm gonna go find out though! |

I have NO IDEA who that person is, but they have 471 songs uploaded, 514 vids uploaded, and 53 pictures uploaded.
So I think it's safe to say there's no limit! |

Wohooo! All that sounds reeeeaaally good! I'm currently working on my own little website where I can put all of my fan vids and iMeem seems to be just perfect for it!

Thanks for the heads up on this one, KC.
I'm uploading my vids as I type.
I'm totally converted. I was getting really naffed off with youtube anyway.
Uploading is soooooo much faster than youtube, and the vids are available within a minute or so of uploading, and the preview pics are SO FREAKIN' COOL! Yay - I love it!
