They've answered a few things but it wouldn't be LOST without the mystery. It what it does best.
But they are gonna start giving answers. Let's just hope that these answers will be good enough. |

Okay, here's the thing. Their ratings are dropping for a few reasons, if you ask me.
1. The time slot
2. HUGE hype about answering "burning" questions, and then answering them ambiguously (Tonight, Kate chooses between Jack and Sawyer! ...then she sleeps with Sawyer and there still seems to be a spark with Jack, too. Question unanswered, for the most part)
3. The plot is SO complex and SO detailed that if you miss a single episode...you're completely down for the count. You either download it and watch it, catch the re-run before the next airs, or else you have NO clue what's going on, because, while the show has slowed its pace IMMENSELY...it's also continued to add more and more and more questions and revealed close to nothing.
I posted that article because a friend of mine found it, sent it to me, and when I read it, I knew that I wasn't the only one on here that would appreciate the honesty in it.
The fact of the matter is, I'm not going to stop watching, now, because I've created a habit of watching for three years, now. But, I won't lie when I say that my Lost Wednesday parties have dwindled to nothingness, and half the time, I'm only half-watching while working on vids (for other fandoms, at this point) or chatting with my little brother online, because I've stopped caring. I've stopped believing that we're ever going to find out anything we want to know, and worst of all, they've either killed or given up storyline for ALL of the characters I give a rat's behind about. I'm tired of Jack and Kate and Sawyer, and I'm REALLY tired of the Others. What's going on with Sayid? They forced Nikki and Paulo on us, and not that I care, but what's going on with them? How about Hurley? How about Charlie and Claire? Did Michael and Walt ACTUALLY go home? Where'd Vincent go? How far along is Sun's pregnancy? Did Jin fall off the planet? What about Rose and Bernard? Do the Jaters and Skaters see how some of us, who don't like those characters as much, how fans like myself would be miffed that OUR favorites are being pushed to the side to make room for NEW characters' backstories and Triangle drama?

Calm down there Jen.
I see where you're coming from, I honestly do. But I still love LOST!
Yeah maybe that's because I've stuck with it every episode of all three seasons! But I still think it's great.
I think the unanswered questions add to it. Although I admit it can be a little tedious waiting for the answers!
I understand about killing of characters. I thought Shannon was a great character and she was killed off just as she was gaining more depth!
And I thought that Mr Eko was a real interesting character.
And bringing in new characters like Paulo and Nikki may seem a little pointless but I'm sure they'll be there for a reason! At least I hope that they are!
I'm so sorry that LOST has lost it's appeal to many people. But I still honestly think it's a great show. It's like no other show ever before. And I really do believe that it is going somewhere. I trust that the writers give us what they think we need to know and hold back on the rest until we do. |

As long as they don't cancel Lost, I frankly don't care what the ratings say. They don't reflect on the people who actually care about the show - they are the casual viewers who are too confused by what's happening. So who cares if they leave. So long as the show lives out its lifespan, it will fulfill its purpose for the loyal viewers. And then once it's on DVD and all those losers who can't understand it back then watch it back to back and go "WOW!!!111", they'll change their minds .
Lost is still my favorite show - moreso now than ever - and I watch a lot of good shows lol |

for me, i dont really mind getting no answers, its just the dropping of questions that buggs me. like whats with the black and white stones, whats with daniells maps, where does that wire on the beach go to. I wasnt too pleased with the last few episodes of the mini season also. I thought some of the writing was a bit cheesy, and I Do looked like a bid episode of grays anatomy with sex in a cage and ben with his tumor. I think though the last too episodes were really great and if they keep it up im sure the rest of the season will go smoothly. I think the lower ratings are mainly due to the new timeslot though. |

Honestly, Ruth, I'm a bit surprised at the responses AGAINST this article in this thread, because I was certain that I wasn't the only person who found its honesty refreshing and comforting. Thanks for agreeing with me so that I don't feel so alone. I'm tired of Lost. I still watch it, but I don't love it anymore. And I'm coming close to not even liking it anymore. That makes me sad, but...there it is. _________________ avatar: Plastic!Winchester Theater by anteka @ LJ; icon by me

Oh no I agree the show has gone downhill, but I don't think that it's gonna be cancelled because of the ratings drop. I mean. If suddenly tomorrow I woke up four inches shorter, I'd still be taller than my mom. |

...actually, I started disliking Lost in the SECOND season, whereas this article assumes that we stop being interested in the third season. But, I read it anyway. And those suggestions feel almost insulting in nature, even though I agree that if everyone, including myself could follow them, then maybe Lost wouldn't be so infuriatingly annoying at this point. _________________ avatar: Plastic!Winchester Theater by anteka @ LJ; icon by me
