Lost Video Island

Hey everyone! ... Just signed up to LostVideo, I've made a couple of vids before with different source material, and stumbled across this site in a random google search for Lost-related stuff, so naturally, I stayed!

... I've got myself a copy of Sony Vegas, as WMM is kind of annoying in its lack of flexibility after a while, and looking at the competition winners from previous months, I don't think I could cut it with what I know at the moment! ... So... I thought, rather than un-learn all my WMM experience and do it "correctly", I'll keep my bad ways and start learning from scratch on a new program (couldn't have picked it without you guys!)

I also got myself a big ol' HD Dell monitor today as well, so I'm all set to make magic happen! (Or at least some mediocre ship vids

) It might take a while, I work awful hours!

This isn't a help request, and it isn't an advertisement. I just hoped that some lovely people would say hey and wish me luck on my venture!

Tell me about it, WMM is a pain! Unfortunately, I can't get my hands on anything better. Best of luck with Sony Vegas, though. All the pros have it so I'm sure you'll produce wonderous works with it.

Anyway, I'm Aislynn and I make crazy AU vids.

(Hey, I called Ethan and Kate waaaaay back before AU ships were all the rage, lol!

)

I used WMM for -- well, forever is what it felt like!

-- then I finally moved up to Sony Vegas Movie Studio, the "baby" version of Vegas. I loooooove it! So much more stable than WMM and less likely to die on you ever 2 seconds. PLUS it has all of the cool gadgets and gizmos!

Congrats on the big ol' HD monitor! I just got a 19" Dell Ultrasharp myself a few months ago and I've loved it to pieces! Though you have to beware of one thing: when you make vids and they look just fine to you on your new monitor, it might look extremely dark to anybody with an "old" style of monitor (I checked one of my vids on my old monitor and was horrified that you couldn't see anything!

). So my advice is to check your vids on a different style monitor if you can or just make them a bit brighter than they look like they need to be on your monitor.

Anyway, welcome again to LVI! It's always great to see some new "faces" around! And I'll be looking forward to your vids (which, given your sense of humor, I doubt will be mediocre!

I hope you plan on making some pro vids here

because with Sony Vegas and a sense of humor (which usually carries over into creativity lol) you can go preeeeetty far

Wow, I got home from work and had three new friends! (Yep, I'm *that* clingy and possessive

)

... I don't know who'll be interested, but I'll be adding links to my other vids in my signature when I can be fussed.

I had a look into Vegas, using some tutorials from LostVideo, of course, and it seems there's more of a learning curve than I'd thought!!

Anywho, I have to make some dinner then get back here to play some old-school big-screen Quake 3 before watching the new ep of Lost and looking at more Vegas-y stuff! (I made my cold seem worse than it was to get tomorrow off work, too - 3-day weekend! Woop!)

Hey, I'm Ed, the resident turn-up-randomly-and-spam person. Welcome to LVI! II'm sure your vidding ability will flourish due to all the insiration and advice available around here. Of course I myself have practically stopped vidding because every time i watch a video by hobbes, polarbear, kajam, aislynn, cylune etc (ie all the incredible vidders in our community) i always get so depressed that I'm nowhere near as good as them.... but hey I'm sure you'll do way better. And if not, it's still a great place to just hang out and talk about life the universe and everything, and promote movies.
I need to stop talking now....

Oh and by the way, shipper vids are not the way to greatness.... Except crackships and uncommon ships.

Seriously, someone stop me talking!!!!!

I know a secret about Ed (aka Shankle)... He didn't slow down on vidding because he was intimidated by anybody. He slowed down on vidding because...

Good luck with leaning Vegas, BTW. Once you get the hang of it, you'll wonder what you ever did without it!

(I tried to use WMM again the other day after using Vegas for 7 months and I almost killed it because I kept expecting it to respond as quickly as Vegas does!

Weeeeeeee!!

I have officially trimmed my first clip for testing. It's rather wonderful, I have to say. For you spoiler-hunters... it's of Desmond!

I can't say any more, but I'd only deny it in my press conference later anyway ^___^

... Steep learning curve, I'm not even sure where to start, having lots of tracks for audio and video is weird, but I'll keep at it with support like this!

Oh, btw Aislynn, my favourite tribute out of the ones I've made thus far is the Gambit one, you have good taste in characters! Look out for the amateurish lip-synching

Well, I'm off to Vegas!
