|
|
I found this in an Entertainment Weekly article:
"Executive producer Damon Lindelof vows a darker and more revealing finale than last year's still-unresolved Walt-napping, and that inconclusive peek into the hatch. This time, we'll see Walt again, learn what caused Oceanic flight 815 to crash, find out what that mysterious button actually does (if anything), and more."
Sounds promising, but I can hardly believe they'll give us these answers
The whole article is here:

Yeah..I think they will answer them, but just leave us with even more questions..
I've seen the promo pics though, and it looks amazing! _________________

Hey to re-open this thread....actually nothing was answered in this finale either. They are going to have an X-Files series ender- where all the characters come back and explain things from step 1. That was soooo helpful with that show. _________________

True. We *do* know what caused the plane crash... if Desmond's right with his theory that it was his fault... and we *do* sorta know what happens if the button is not pushed. _________________

Noooo
To prevent that the electromagnetic field gets too big and thus causes plane crashes _________________

So, an 84 Mac prevented an apocalypse? What happened before the computer was there? _________________

Gah! Do you always have to contradict?
Well, I hope that J.J. will come up with some good answers to the whole elctromagnetic field thing and won't end up with so many crappy ideas as Chris Carter did. _________________

didn't they say they were containing the magnetic field for scientific research or something? Obviously releasing the power didn't destroy the earth or whatever but you'd think it would have at least caused an inconvenience to the Dharma guys, especially if suddenly the island that was hidden from the rest of the world is finally visible now (as per the ending of S2). Though then again, they weren't really all that bothered when they saw the white light in the sky. But maybe they've abandoned the experiments anyway, since they did everywhere else (big pile of journal entries, etc)
Something for you to mull over while you're working heheg |

Yeah, I know what you mean. It's only a student job for me, but that's what makes it even worse, because we get all the stupid and boring work that the other guys don't have enough time for. What are you doing, job-wise?
Warren, if they abandoned all the experiments, then what the heck are the Others still doing on the island? (Except for running around in rags and behaving like a bunch of weirdos, that is ) _________________

dunno. but they at least abandoned the hatches or deliberately made it look like they abandoned the hatches. Claire's medical station in Maternity Leave had the lights flckering and was completely scraped out, and the pearl also showed signs of fairly recent abandonment (like the cigarette). Perhaps they just did that to make the hatches look abandoned as soon as the Losties got there so they could keep their roaming-in-the-forest disguise, or perhaps they genuinely do have no use for the hatches. Though to me it seems the former is the more interesting answer (and thus more likely by tv standards ). Though then... why the hell were those journals there, uncollected and completely filled out? That's messed.
But Henry did say that nobody was going to find the island, and those Polish(?) guys at the finale seemed very frantic to catch some momentary thing (which was probably Desmond's brief containment breach that caused Oceanic 815 to go down) so there probably was some sort of difficulty in locating the island before.
To try and answer your question: maybe they are still doing research, but are just done with the (scientifically pointless, might I add ) psychological tests, and have moved on to injection time
Or in a much creepier context maybe their little desperation for babies (Rousseau's, Claire's) is really making them desperate (since they said Walt was more than they could handle), and they've decided it's time JATE or SKATE takes things up a notch LMAO!
(I mean, Sun and Jin would be off the list, as Jin's medical records would cross him off, and they probably wouldn't know about Sun's pregnancy, as she was never in the hatch, under servailence by those cameras )
LMAO |
