One rockin song

This is not
By Static-x
I can see this song rockin out hard core with lots of action clips! It also has a cool chorus that you could possibly relate to the characters.

Talk about the Training Video:

In case you couldn't read that banner:

Quality #1
"A montage is a nickname created by us for a video that has NO connection to the song. It merely plays random clips in a line with few interesting qualities like effects, or cuts to the beat of the music. There are few clips used, and often they span over 15 seconds at a time, (NEVER a good thing, even on slow songs). SOMETIMES the song choice reflects the clips, (e.g. the title of the song "Montage" reflects the video, which talks about montages) but otherwise, no simillarities are noticable. This all shows that the vidder didn't work hard on their video, making it unfit for the site."

Quality # 2
"As you may notice, this form of music video is a HUGE improvement from the regular montage. The clips are placed at the right timing of the song, and even some minor effects are used to give it a professional feel. The only thing that seperates this type of video from a 3 or 4 quality is the fact that the clips have no MEANING for being there in the song. There is no connection between the lyrics and the clips, nor is there a story being told in the clips. These are randomly-chosen clips of Charlie and Claire to a beat. No artistic ability is yet portrayed. "

And as for the second one:

"Talking about quality # 3:
Very simillar to #2, isn't it? Except those random clips that were placed throughout the video AREN'T RANDOM!! They have a meaning for being there, such as relating to the lyrics, or, if the person is doing a montage-like showing of a character, are placed in the proper order (so it doesn't, say, switch from Kate just talking with Jack to running from the monster) They also fit to the style of the video or verse, like a drum roll being an action scene or a slow yet meaningful beat for a slow yet meaningful look between two shippers. Not hard to do, it just takes more work, and a bit of artistic instinct."

'As for Quality Level 4:
It can only be reached by something that is trully original! Think! Use your creativity! Think-up something that's never been done before, and DO IT! ^^"

"Here are some more things to try to avoid doing... but nobody's perfect, right? "

"The Messy Clip: Shown when one tiny frame gets caught in the beginning of a clip. It is VERY hard to get rid of all of these things, and some are just stuck there in the clip sometimes. The only sure-fire way to get rid of them is by using fade effects. Just be careful."

"Clips of people talking. (It sometimes just ruins the mood a bit)"

"Aspect Ratio Changes: The ratio of width to height. Check out the "Vidder Help" forum for details."

"Words: i.e. Credits. Distracting, but aren't really a big deal."

It's kinda tough to acurately outline what we want in these, or rather, what we don't want, but the videos in the video pretty-much sum-up what those levels of quality look like (the examples that is) Don't be offended if it happens to describe your video either. There's nothing at all to be ashamed of, you just need to know that there's a bit more that we're asking for. Granted, it's hard work making a music video, especially putting that extra work in, but in the end it's all really worth it!

Hobbes outlines what we're looking for:
Author: Hobbes :: Posted: Thu Feb 03, 2005 4:56 am
Well, the thing is, there are a lot of people who just submit videos that don't actually fit the parts of the video.
Think of it like a certain level that they think about their videos:

1: the song name and general theme (eg. "Breakaway") fits the general theme of those in the video (eg. Sun needs to "Breakaway" from Jin)
-these people generally just put random clips of their shippers (Jin and Sun, for instance) in a video to the tune of the song.
THE PROBLEM with these is that they are really easy to do and EVERYBODY makes them (one person sent in FIFTEEN of these at once to us) and if we accepted every one of them, we'd just be swamped with almost-identical videos. They're really easy to make, and really fast to make. In fact, they're just about equal to saying "Hey! don't you thing _this_song_ would make a great _person/shipper_ video!!!?!"
(please note, I don't think "Breakaway" is this quality video)

2: The same as #1, but the clips fit the tune of the song well (so the clips might cut out at the right timing as the end of a stanza, or on a cymbol smash, etc.) These are a HUGE improvement from the last one, but it still can basicly be summed up by "Hey! don't you thing _this_song_ would make a great _person/shipper_ video!!!?! That drum beat in it would be a cool spot to put a series of clips!!!". They're pretty common too, but at least they take a longer time to make, so we know the vidder put a lot of work into it.

3: The same as #2, except those random clips that were placed throughout the video AREN'T RANDOM!!

4: The same as #4, except that there's something really original about the video. It could be funny, it could have really cool effects, it could have some topic that nobody has ever done yet, etc. The sky's the limit!!!

There should be no reason why an ordinary vidder can't get at LEAST as high as #3. it just takes a bit of work. It's not even about talent, really, just eagerness to put everything they can into making a great video (and now that you know what we're looking for, you know what to shoot for too!)

(Other judges, respond along with this if you have anything to add or is different from how you judge. Or just type "I agree" if you DO agree with what I'm saying just for the public to know. I don't wanna put any words in your mouths )
