I was watching a few Lost vids today (big surprise huh?) and was thinking over the reaction of vidders to comments on their vids at this and other vid sites I am a member of.
Some vidders ask for pointers, some just want to show off their work and if it sucks the idea is to "keep it to yourself buddy," some want to improve, some want to have the approval of others. There are also a multitude of ways to go about giving comments.
"You suck and your vid sucks" is not constructive even if those 2 facts are true. In a slightly better but also unhelpful manner "You rock and your vid ROCKS!" is also not very constructive in terms of improving vidding skills but makes a vidder feel good for the rest of the day.
I know some vidders want to learn, others want to share, and some could give a "fart in my general direction" what I think.
How do you make a constructive comment?

I noticed on your profile it mentions NC and I think you said you go to film school. Is it that big fancy film school that I believe is in North Carolina? I was doing research about a year ago and I remember that school being in the top 10 list for film schools. How is it? Not that I'll ever get the opportunity to go, but I'm wondering how it is.

I still haven't seen tonight's episode - but from what I've read... you people are spoiling yourselves to death!

Let me go first...
I, Super KC of the LVI forum, am a spoiler-holic. I visit spoiler boards, read episode descriptions and watch the promos. Even tonight, though I have not seen the episode, I read the new episode thread! I may not be as bad as some, but I still clicky-click those itty bitty buttons when my inner-self is saying, "No, Super KC! Don't do it! You don't want to do it! Stop! Put. The mouse. Down!" It's an addiction and I'm admitting that. From now until, well... six weeks from now (we won't go crazy) I will try my very hardest to not read any spoilers, episode descriptions, or anything else that might "give it all away." This is for my own good.
