Saturday for me too. But now with all you saying Saturday, it seems everyone is gonna take that route eep.
I hope this one is as good as the last one. They changed directors again I heard, which kinda sucks The first two were WAY too babyish. I hope this one keeps the angst they had in the last one. Sounds like it will. |

I'm a nerd too, Liz! I'm seeing it tonight (then again next Thursday!)
Hobbes, you should be pleased with this movie, it's rated PG-13 because it's (thankfully) supposed to be a whole lot darker than the first 2 (which were way too tame) and even darker than the 3rd (which was a fairly good level of dark), so YAY! IMHO, the darker the better when it comes to Harry Potter.
I'm trying to prepare myself that there's going to be a lot of things cut out to make time (like the Dursleys and the house elves). The only cut part that I've heard about that I'm really pissed about them cutting is the hospital wing scene at the end. Apparently Mrs. Weasley isn't even IN the movie! WTH?
Oh well, as long as the graveyard scene and the Harry/Voldemort duel are the same as they are in the book I'll be happy. That part kicks ass and is my favorite part out of all the HP books. _________________

I can't believe I didn't see this thread sooner...
I'm a major HP fan (even though I hated books 1 and 2) and I simply can't wait for the 4th movie (although I *have* too, since it will only be released by the 25th around here).
All the reviews I've read by now were pretty positive, and some even mention this one is better than the 3rd, though I highly doubt it (CuarĂ³n did some serious magic in that one... pun intended).
I got really frustrated when I read Sirius will only appear in the fireplace scene and won't meet the trio as it happened in the book... I'm a major fan of the father/son relationship of Harry and Sirius and I'm desperate need for some scenes of them together before we go to OOTP.
But I'm with Ringwench on this, as long as the graveyard scene and the Harry/Voldemort duel happens as it did in the book, I'll be happy. |

Dammit! My friend was supposed to get tickets for us to go see HP tonight and she just emailed me to tell me that they were sold out!
So now I have to see if I can get tickets to a show tomorrow night instead! Hopefully they aren't sold out again.
Stupid popular movie... _________________

I've never seen one Harry Potter movie and I've never read any of the books either. They just never interested me none and I think the reason why is because everyone made such a huge, big deal about them. I might've wanted to see them and read the books but.......like I said, I just got put off from all of the BUZZ and praise about these movies and books. I mean you can't go anywhere without hearing about them from children, adults, seniors even, billboard posters, mergindise, these movies and books are just EVERYWHERE!
I'm not saying that they're bad movies or novels cause like I said already, I haven't seen or read any of them myself..... it's just that I think they're over rated is all. I'm not trying to upset or disrespect any of you Harry Potter fans, I'm just stating my opinion.
Although I must admit that I've seen previews of this new movie, the fourth one right? and it does look good but I still won't be seeing it.
Sorry. _________________

Probably because like I said, these movies and books are just everywhere you turn. I mean I heard on the tv this morning that our SilverCity theatre is showing the movie every hour on the dot. They never do that with any other movies. People getting in line for the books and movies the day before it's even released. Plus sold out already?
If that doesn't sound over rated to me then I don't know what does. _________________

Holly, I totally get where you're coming from on thinking they're overrated. I'm the same way with a lot of things, if they're too hyped up, I don't care how great they might be, I'm not going to bother with them! Maybe that makes me a snob, but whatever
I felt the same way about Harry Potter for several years after they first came out. I was like "How good can they POSSIBLY be?". And I told myself I would never read any of the books or see any of the movies.
I had a friend who was rampantly obsessed with Harry Potter who FINALLY after months and months of hounding me (and she was really persistant!) got me to read the first book.
And, to my great surprise, it was really good! Then I borrowed the other books (they were only up to book 4 at the time) and read them all within a few days and I was hooked!
I've read all of the books several times over now, and the latest book was hands down, the best book I've ever read in my entire life.
They, unlike most other uber-popular things, really do live up to all the hype! They are, quite honestly, the best books I've ever read. Every single chapter is gripping and exciting and each book gets better than the one before it! I read the last one through in one big 14 hour sitting (forgoing sleeping and eating!). I was completely incapable of putting it down!
My boyfriend felt the same way I used to, he thought they were overhyped and silly. Until I forced him to read them, and he's as big a fan as I am now!
I would HIGHLY recommend you read the books. The movies are pretty good but they don't live up to the awesomeness of the books. They're fun to watch, and a nice companion to the books, but if you're going to do one or the other between reading the books and seeing the movies, pick the books.
You really don't want to miss out on reading these books, they are definitely well worth getting into!
Come on, Holly, would I lead you astray? _________________

Over exposed does not equate overrated. Overrated means that something is not WORTH all the hype. In my opinion, Harry Potter in both written and film form is definitely worth the hype. But is it a bit over-exposed? Yeah. Overrrated though? No way.
By the way, I just came back from the theater and was very impressed. I missed certain things that were left out though, but I realize it was all for a purpose. There is ONE thing I would change about the movie but I won't go into details until others have seen it. Otherwise, this was a great edition to the Harry Potter series in movies. Excellent. |

LOL Ok yeah then I guess I can't say over rated then from that diffinition KC said but yeah I totally agree with the overexposed. I don't know Ringwench, they just seem to be not my kind of books. I'm more into horror, mystery and drama type novels myself such as Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Dennis Lehane and Nicholas Sparks. The best book I've read so far would have to be "It" by SK. I absolutely loved that book, it was WAY better then the tv movie IMO. I've also read the first 2 installments of "A Series Of Unfortunate Events" by Lemony Snicket and suprisingly, I actually liked them. I still have to get the other what, 8 or 9 books. lol.
Harry's been trying to get me to read the Harry Potter books now for a year or more. I'm still not sure if I would like them, I'm kind've thinkin that I won't. Hmmm.....well right now I'm currently reading "The Stand" but maybe when I'm finished that, I could give HP a try. No promises though. LOL
edit: and MG, DH is overexposed not overrated. _________________
