I agree, I like Draco, even though he is a little bastard.

Although I am one of those sick fucks who enjoy reading Harry/Draco slash fic (only if it takes place when they're older though! I'm not that disgusting!)

I know, I know, I'm going to hell.

In reading the first 5 Harry Potter books I had myself completely convinced that Draco would ALWAYS be a one dimensional character. Only there to be a pain in the ass for Harry, and possibly to be Voldemort's golden child in book 7.

I had completely given up hope that JKR would ever give Draco any depth, and I was OK with that. That's what fanfiction is for, I told myself.

HOWEVER...the events in HBP have COMPLETELY renewed my faith in JKR (when it comes to Draco) and I feel horrible for ever having doubted her abilities to make Draco into a satisfying character.

Now I don't feel in any way that Draco is a saint. Nor has he completely redeemed himself for his actions in all previous books (or in book 6).

I think in the first 5 books, Draco was a perfect example of a spoiled bully who always got what he wanted. He'd never had any real hardship in his life. His family was rich and well respected. He'd been taught since birth that pure blood familes were better than other wizard families and he bought into that because he was never shown anything different.

Being in Slytherin further cemented his views.

With the events of HBP, however, Draco's father is suddenly no longer in the picture (and Lucius has, I'm sure, SERIOUSLY fallen out of Voldemort's favor), and Draco is forced to step up and fill his fathers shoes in a very short period of time.

He likely became a Death Eater because his father was one and he never questioned the idea of himself following in his father's footsteps.

Wanting to make Voldemort happy, and to protect his family (and himself), he agreed (probably very hastily) to kill Albus Dumbledore.

I'm certain that he didn't consider the rammifications of this originally. He just considered how highly regarded he would be, and the safety such an act would guarantee for his family.

At the beginning of HBP Draco is still his cocky, evil, usual self (if not even MORE so than before). He's horrible to Harry in Madam Malkins, and on the train to Hogwarts.

Quite quickly, though, he stops paying much attention to Harry at all. He has more important things to worry about than pestering Harry every waking moment.

Then, of course, the infamous bathroom scene with Moaning Myrtle. Finally, Draco has shown some depth. He's in WAY over his head and he knows it. It's quite sad, really. He has no real friends to help him out, or to confide in. He feels there is no way out and he must do an unspeakable thing to save the lives of his family.

The scene on the roof where Dumbledore talks to Draco is awesome. It really seemed like Draco was seriously considering the idea that he may have a choice in all this after all. He might not have to choose the path of evil that he thought he'd been destined for all his life.

Snape, by killing Dumbledore, saved Draco's soul, so to speak. This is another reason why I'm almost 100% POSITIVE that Dumbledore knew of the unbreakable vow all along and was not pleading for his life as it seemed to Harry, but pleading with Snape to kill him to save both Snape's life, and Dracos.

I would LOVE to see Draco make a choice to desert the death eaters and join the side of good. He now knows the true horrors a life as a death eater entails and I don't think it's anywhere near as glamourous as he dreamed it would be as a child. I'm not sure Draco will ever be GOOD (and I'm quite certiain he'll still be a jerk), but I hope he will not end up to be pure evil. The fact that he did not kill Dumbledore means that he still has a chance to choose good. He's not doomed to a life of evil.

I hope that he will turn to Harry in book 7 for the help that Dumbledore offered him at the end of book 6. And YAY to JKR for giving a once completely horrible, one dimensional character, SO much more depth and a chance for redemption.



DAMN that was lengthy. This is what happens when I have no LJ access at work, all my crazy ideas end up going here!

it is about Draco who dranka love potion by accident and fell in love with harry, but only his body loves him, not his mind

and harry is like ' damn I hate draco, but I don'T like to see him suffer' nad draco is like ' I HATE this bastartI hope he'll die ahorrible death... will he still look so good when he'S dead?'

Dude, I've TOTALLY read that fic! It was really awesome!

I don't like all H/D (as some are REALLY awful! And I HATE when the author makes them all "IN LOVE", because, give me a break. I like when they're still sniping at each other.), but there are some really well written ones.

I didn't even WANT to like the pairing, I used to be completely repulsed by it (and I'm very well aware of how completely WRONG it is!) until a friend of mine literally FORCED me to read one (called "Underwater Light" by Maya--best. fanfic. EVER!) and I'm now hopelessly obsessed.

like I always do before starting abook, I read the last page ( DUnno why but I always do that) and so I know that Flauer and Bill still marry each other.. but HOW oculd that happen??? I mean Fleur is just .. dunno but when god gave out the brains I guess she was busy being amazed by her looky while looking into a mirror or so. Good I guess she's pretty ( btw I don't like the Fleur that is casted for the movie, she'S to ordinary IMO) but how can a man seriously marry something like her o-o

It's REALLY long (22 chapters) but it's EASILY the best fanfic I've ever read (not just the best Potterfic but the best fic overall). It has the best characterization I've Draco I've ever seen and there's actual PLOT as well!

She's been working on it for like 3 years and finally posted the last (and final) chapter last week!

It'll take awhile to get through but it's well worth the read. Trust me. Let's just say that before reading this fic I HATED the Harry/Draco pairing, but it converted me! It's not soppy or graphic either, which is good.

And yeah, Fleur (aka Phlegm, LOL!) kinda sucks (but by the end she isn't as bad). And I agree that she's not pretty enough in the movie. Not that the girl is UGLY or anything! Cause she's not, but Fleur is supposed to be UNBELIEVABLY stunning. I mean she's part Veela!!! I'm sure they could have found a prettier girl.

yeah I mean movie fleur is nice, I mean, I guess we can say an ordinary girl would be ok, if she head an extraordinary charisma OR just his ' I'm so much petter then you' like movie Draco has
