Ok that was a great episode First time I said that in a while. Finally the realism!

Start was good, in the middle I was thinking I might be chucking in Lost for good, then it picked up in Jack's blackmailing, scapel-wielding brilliance. Jack is an ace character and Foxy does such an awesome job with him.
Jack is definitely my favorite character, just gets better

The way that played out with the surgery, luring that guy round and then just nailing him in the face with an elbow was ace. I punched the air with elation at that Hopefully Jack will just get out, get hold of a gun and just shoot his way out. I was hoping he'd cap Benry straight between the eyes when he had that gun on him, but it all worked out with Dr. Shepard brilliance in the end.

Kate's back story wasn't bad, Nathan Fillion was as I expected he would be, nothing we didn't know really, just expanded a few things pretty much.
I figured Sawyer and Kate would get it on somewhere, better now than before she and Jack start I'm a Jater yes, but even so I just think it's obviously pointing to a Jate side overall. Kate didn't say she loved Sawyer, she basically won't, and was screaming she can't leave without Jack and such. It's just transference Jack rejected her so she went to Sawyer for some. She's evidently in love with Jack, Sawyer's just a well-chiselled detour

I just hope Jack lets Benry die. Let's face it, he has to anyway, because surgery this complex is very difficult without a skilled team and the healing period is gonna put him out of the show, so I think Benry is going to die. Just depends what happens to Jack, but that depends on what Juliet is really like, I still don't trust her.

Overall I like this ep, but Locke, Sayid, Desmond etc was a little boring (I don't count Nikki or Paulo cos they suck), what they showed was good but I was expecting a bit more before the ridiculously long break. 6 episodes and then a 3 MONTH break?

WTF is that about, seriously?

Lost in February better be damn good to make up for this joke

And CAN I CALL A MORATORIUM ON THE SKATER-HATERS??? Us "Skaters" (and I like Jack) arent in here smoozing ,although we could be.

Come on Jaters. Ruth's right. They aren't gloating and stuff so give the Skate scenes some credit! They were sweet. Ruth said over at CE that someone can love 2 people at the same time, and Kate has blatently shown that she loves these guys in different ways.

Hey I was nowhere near sticking it you "Skaters" over all this. I think the Skate scene was pretty good, just my thought is that they're driving at Jate with the stuff that put around it.

And what's the the flashback hating, seriously? Every time I read a episode discussion, people are saying they hated the flashbacks and stuff

I actually liked the flashbacks. they were kind of funny. Okay maybe not the most "informative" that weve seen. Some people like 'em, some dont. I didnt mind them this time. And either way, they were brief, so...

My MORE COMPLETE Reaction, (taken from a response I posted at someone's livejournal who asked us what was thought of the show.)

Jack is the shit. This, we already knew. But he just proved it again in this episode, although with a bit more asskickery, for flavor. I loved all of his scenes. I hated the flashback it was boring and repetitive, despite the appearance of a well-placed Nathan Fillion. I still don't buy Skate. I just don't. They're both acting out of character this season, especially when they're around each other. It's bizarre and highly obnoxious. Why is Kate so whiny these days? C'mon. She used to have balls. I love you too? Yeah, and Benry's not dog ugly.

Speaking of out of character, the whole Sayid/Locke interaction was weird. "The people back at the beach call it the monster?" What? Since when is Sayid the guy who doesn't know stuff. He knows stuff! He's Sayid. He's been on the show for two seasons, why is Locke talking to him like they just met? WTFOMGcontinuitycakes!

I hated the way Juliet kept staring at Jack during the surgery. It was too obvious IMO. She was making ME nervous and I wasn't the one performing spinal surgery.

The cliffhanger was good, Jack's a big fat hero. Don'tcha know?

Also, Eko's funeral was craptacular. The scenes with those guys were just WACKY.

All this being said, I will continue to watch this show if Jack continues to be the shit. End.

The most significant flashback was the last one where she told Kevin who she was. She couldn't do it anymore so she 'Gave Up' and I think thats why she didn't want Sawyer to surrender and let himself be shot. She didn't want him to give up either.

Wow! I really enjoyed this episode.
First of all, how different was Evies hair in this flashback? I quite liked them but I could have had longer with the wedding.
The skate wasn't bad, but I think it was out of Sawyers character,the I love you too.
I loved Alex, kick butt! It was so funny how she was hitting them on the heads!
Jack is so awsome. I have a brilliant idea now!!!!!!!
I liked Kates last flashback, some great au lines. But the ending was intense acting and emotions, let him die jack!!!!!!

All I can say...I died..again and again..For me the choice is clear.IMHO ...I was waiting for skate all this year, and I still can't believe this actually happened . I was so seeing a parallel between this episode and EMFH, but here Kate was trying to safe Sawyer's life..

I love all episode (may be exept flashbacks, 'cause I was expecting smth more ).

And hopefully my poor Ben would't die I'm so worried about him right now!

Well, I liked it...

1. Coming from someone who is pretty much unbiased (I could swing for Jate, Skate, and Kayid), the Skate scenes were very lovable any way you look at it. The Skex, too, was sooo romantic, which is a complete 180 from the Sawyer/Ana sex scene last season. The post-sex scene was very sweet as well and Sawyer's half-assed "I love you too" was enough to make me chuckle and melt my heart.

2. Jack's plan kicked ass! I seriously thought he'd be doing the operation only to save his own butt, but when he called in Kate, even AFTER he saw the Skate sex, even I was surprised at his heroism. When did this great character develop when all we used to have was Mangsheng Jack? By the end of the episode, all I was thinking was how much it must rock to be so intelligent and use it to your advantage like that. I was also thinking that he sounded like Jack Bauer from 24 when he screamed "Dammit, Kate, run" but that's a different story. Kudos on cliffhanger well-done, Jack ... even if we know Kate (and Sawyer, if he was included in Jack's order) won't be able to get off the island.

3. I actually liked the Kate flashbacks. I didn't quite anticipate how her marriage would end. Seeing the Marshall was cool as well. I also noticed her haircut (it was very 1950s). Plus, that Nathan Fillion is a cutie! I couldn't stop staring at his eyes ... MUST. SEE. FIREFLY!

4. The Sayid/Locke/Desmond were a bit weak, I agree. I expected more of them ... like for Locke to look up after reading that on Eko's stick. Those scenes seemed almost like fillers to me since they didn't really go back to them. *shrugs* Oh, well. SIDENOTE: Does anyone else get the impression that "Mr. Eko" sounds like something you'd call a teddy bear. LOL. Whenever Locke said his name, I thought he was giving a funeral for a teddy bear. OH! And I wasn't very pleased with Locke saying "I believe Mr. Eko died for a reason!" Do you never learn, John!?

5. I'm a little disappointed that they haven't brought up Penny in the first "half" of the season. She was such a major plotline at the end of Season 2 and it's like they forgot all about it. I hope they bring it up in February.

Oh, yeah, so is Jacob (whoever the hell he is) the BIG CHEESE on the island? Even bigger than Ben? Maybe Ben is like the manager and Jacob runs the whole place?

Woah.. I usually don't agree with you SuperKC but to be honest with you, I totally agreed with everything you just said. I too believe Kate has been out of character and a little too "whiny" She is too helpless now..
And one of the only reasons why I am hooked soo far this season is because Jack is the driving force, he is splendid this Season. His scenes turn out to be the best.

And your totally right about "Skate" it totally seems obnoxious and out of place. Your also too right about the flashbacks, they were a little too tedious to watch. They did nothing but show that yes.. she still runs... But come one make it more INTERESTING !

I totally want Jack to save Ben's life, and to become allies..
(not with the OTHERS).

I don't know about other boards but I haven't seen much Skater gloating going on here (probably because we're completely outnumbered by Jaters, but I digress... ). For me, I'm just happy it wasn't a dream or hallucination or something! It was far more sweet than I ever expected! And I NEVER expected his "I love you too!" I really enjoyed the ep (no duh, right? ), though I still was a little surprised that they went for the "obvious" ending... But I still enjoyed the little unexpected things along the way. I did "awwwwww" for poor Jack when he saw them on the monitor, though I was glad they didn't cheapen him by making him cry (Mangsheng alert! ) because, come on, if you're trying to make your great escape, you're NOT going to take that moment to have a good cry because the girl you like is macking on some other guy! You might be stunned and upset but you're not gonna break out a pint of Cherry Garcia and watch an afternoon of chick flicks while you bawl through 10 boxes of Kleenex! You're gonna RUNNNNNNNNN first and be mopey later!

One thing I did find strange... What was with those extreme close-ups on Ben? I mean, I like the creepy little Martian psychopath (as Ruth called him, lol! ) -- he makes a great villain and I really hope they don't kill him off -- but why were we going in for the nostril shots? It's like, hello? I don't want to inspect his sinus cavities okay? Could we maybe not pull in quite so close!
