Episode 3x19: The Big Day (Part Two).

Day 147: The Battle Grounds.

Broadband Man twitched, and suddenly dropped to the ground. His muscles shrunk, his cape came off and his mullet became shorter. Colin stared, grinning. Broadband Man suddenly stopped moving, then slowly got up. He turned around to face Colin.

“Hey, Colin!” said Matt. “How long was I asleep for?”

“A couple of weeks, I think.” replied Colin, laughing. Just then, Vicky came running over.

“Colin, have you--” she stared at Matt. “Matt?” Her eyes widened in shock. “But…but…” She looked at Colin.

“You’re welcome.” smiled Colin.

“What do you mean ‘you’re welcome’?!?” yelled Vicky. “You just got rid of Broadband Man like that on the day of our wedding???”

“Wait…” said Matt. “Broadband Man was back? And you…you were gonna marry him?”

“Sorry, Matt…” said Vicky. “But…technically Broadband Man is still you, just with…super powers.”

Matt sighed and walked off. Colin stared at Vicky with a guilty look on his face. “Sorry.”

“Colin, thanks to you Josh and Steph are gonna die!” cried Vicky.

“What?” asked Colin, shocked.

“Yeah.” said Vicky. “They’re drowning in the lake. And Broadband Man was the only one who could’ve saved him!”

“Oh God…” said Colin, feeling terrible. He rushed off to the pond, and Vicky followed.


The crowd stared in horror at the lake. Matt, Colin and Vicky all rushed over.

“How long have they been down there?” asked Colin loudly.

“About three minutes!” replied Aislynn.

“Oh no…” said Colin. He jumped into the water.

“Oh great.” said Aislynn sarcastically. “Another one in the water…” She looked over at Matt. “Matt? What the--where’s Broadband Man?”

“Uhh…he’s…gone.” said Matt.

“But he needs to save them!” exclaimed Aislynn. “He’s the only superhero here!”

“And who says you need a superhero to save the day?!?” Matt yelled, fed up. He charged into the water.

Matt swam over to Colin, who wasn’t far away. Colin pointed down to the bottom, and they quickly swam down. Two bodies were there, Steph and Josh.

Matt grabbed Steph, and pointed towards Josh. Colin held onto him and tried to swim up. He was too heavy. And so was Steph. One person couldn’t lift up either of them through so much water. Matt sprang up to the top of the lake again.

“Where are they?” asked Aislynn.

“We’ve found them.” replied Matt. “But we can’t lift them on our own.”

Colin came out of the water too. “Aislynn…Vicky…help us!”

Aislynn and Vicky stared at each other. “Err…okay…” said Aislynn. She jumped in with Matt and Colin. Vicky closed her eyes and dived in too, still wearing her white wedding dress. They all swam down to the bottom. Aislynn and Colin lifted Josh, while Vicky and Matt lifted Steph.

Nate stood outside of the lake, waiting for them to come back. “Hmm…I think they’ve excluded me from their group now.” he said, rolling his eyes.

“Ah, you don’t need ‘em!” said Susan. “I hope Colin dies down there!”

“You’re not a very good mother, you know.” said Nate.

“And I don’t have a very good son!” laughed Susan. “Tell me something I don’t know, will ya?”

“Umm…I once kissed seven--” started Nate.

“It’s a rhetorical question.” Susan said quickly.

“Oh.” replied Nate.

Aislynn and Colin came out of the water, gasping for air. They were holding Josh. Vicky and Matt came holding Steph straight after them.

“Quick!” said Vicky, gasping for air. Nate lifted Steph up, staring in tears at her body.

“Mom!” said Colin. “Help!” Susan just stood there. “Mom, please! You can hate me all you want but don’t let someone die because of it!” Susan hesitated, not sure what to do. Finally she took Josh and brought him onto the land.

“Okay, now what?” asked Aislynn, getting out of the freezing water. “Does anyone here know mouth-to-mouth?”

“Aislynn, now’s not the time…” said Nate.

“Shut up, Nate.” said Colin. “She means CPR.”

Aislynn waited for an answer. “No? Nobody at all?”

A man with blonde hair wearing big sunglasses raised his hand. “I can help.”

“Thankyou, sir!” said Aislynn, grabbing his arm and pulling him over to Josh. “Okay, how do you do it?”

The blonde man brought out a little black bag from his jacket, and opened it to reveal several wires and other equipment. He grabbed a red wire, a blue wire, and a pair of pliers.

“Err…” said Matt. “What does this have to do with CPR?”

The man ignored him and attached two wires to Josh’s chest with tape. He got out two big electrical objects. “CLEAR!” he yelled, putting them against his chest. He kept doing it. “CLEAR!” he yelled again.

“What’s clear?!?” asked Vicky.

“Not what’s going on inside this guy’s head…” replied Colin.

The man threw away the electrical objects and started punching Josh in the stomach, trying to get him to wake up. “It’s no use…” he finally said. “We have no choice but to cut one of the wires…”

“Wait…” said Aislynn. “You mean the wires you attached to him? Why did you--”

“Quiet, woman!” the man yelled. “I’m trying to think!” He stared at the red and blue wire. “Red wire…blue wire…which one do I choose?” he asked himself. “If I pick the wrong one…this man’s stomach will explode…” He tried to decide which one to use, wiping the sweat off of his face. “Eenie meenie minee moe…” He cut the red one. Josh woke up, coughing.

“Oh my God!” yelled Aislynn. She ran to Josh and kissed him. Nate stared in shock.

Josh pulled Aislynn away. “Sorry…but…I’m still…catching…my breath…” he laughed.

Aislynn turned to the man who had somehow saved Josh’s life with a random bunch of wires and equipment. “Thankyou so much, Mr…” Aislynn realised she didn’t know his name.

“Bauer.” replied the man, taking off his glasses. “Jack Bauer.”

“Well, sorry, Mr Bauer, but your work isn’t done yet…” said Matt. “Steph here is still unconscious!”

Jack Bauer nodded and pulled out a yellow wire, a pencil and an ice-cream scoop. “Okay, let’s do it…” Just then a police car went by. “Oh darn it! Sorry, gotta go!” he yelled, and ran off.

Everyone stared as the police car drove off in the opposite direction. Jack Bauer was gone.

“That guy was creepy…” said Colin. He stared at Steph. “Who’s gonna save her now?”

Matt ran over to Steph. “I am!” He put his mouth around Steph’s, and breathed into her, then pounded her chest with his fist. It wasn’t working. Matt punched harder and harder, but still she wasn’t waking up. Finally he threw his arms right down on top of her, and she jumped up, gasping for air.

Vicky grinned happily and ran over to Matt. “Matt, I’m so sorry! You’re a million times better than that idiot superhero! I love you!” She hugged him.

Nate walked over to Steph. “Umm…Steph, I think Josh and Aislynn are…together.”

“Yeah, I know.” said Steph, laughing. “Thanks for telling me.”

“Oh.” Nate looked confused. “Well then…shouldn’t we…can’t we…y’know, get back together?”

Steph laughed. “Nate, Josh never did like me.”

“What?!?” asked Nate.

“They’ve known about us all this time…and they’ve been together all this time…they were trying to tell us about them without you getting mad!” said Steph.

“Wow…” said Nate. “I really am excluded from the group now, aren’t I?” Steph laughed.

There was a long silence as everyone hugged or kissed, or shook hands since they had nobody to hug or kiss and felt left out. Then Aislynn finally spoke.

“Well?” she said. “What are we all doing? Come on, guys, we need some warm clothes! We’ve still gotta have the wedding!”


Matt and Vicky stood next to each other, both wearing plain casual clothes. “You may now kiss the bride.” said Father Henrietta. They kissed. The crowd cheered.

Susan walked over to Colin. “Hey, Colin…”

“Err…hi.” he said awkwardly.

“Look, I was really…impressed with what you did before.” she said. “You risked your own life to save your friends…”

“I’m also the one who got rid of Broadband Man.” sighed Colin. “That wasn’t so good of me…”

“Sure it was!” replied Susan. “Broadband Man was the most annoying person I’ve ever met!”

“Oh my God!” said Colin. “I thought I was the only one who thought that!”

“No, I hated him the minute I met him!” laughed Susan. Colin laughed too. “Colin…” she continued, after she stopped laughing. “I forgive you. And I’m sorry for the way I’ve treated you.”

Colin smiled, crying. “I forgive you too, Mom.” He hugged her.

Aislynn and Josh stood with the newly married Matt and Vicky. Steph and Josh had decided it was best to keep their brief relationship a secret. A warrior walked over to them.

“Aislynn, I have a message for you.” he said.

“What is it?” asked Aislynn.

“The date for the battle has been set…” said the warrior. “It’s tomorrow.”

Great ep, Marcus! I was totally fangirl *squeeing* through the whole Jack Bauer part, of course! Though this was my most favorite part...
