Damn good episode. LOST is back! YAY!
Totally surprised me that Charlie attacked Sun.
I thought Sawyer was up to something from his "different weaving" remark. Who the hell notices that is the middle of the night and from 15 feet away?
Flashback was okay. |

| Maybe I'm insane but... during the summer didn't they say they were gonig to release a mystery novel which was supposed t have been written by someone of the plane? Because that would explain Hurley reading the novel manuscript. |

Stand by for one of Aislynn's typically long-winded reviews of tonight's episode of Lost, titled "The Long Con." It was an episode that she greatly antipated seeing, as that the previews seemed to indicate more fun-filled Sawyer and Kate moments. Though, on the serious side, there was the attempted abduction of sweet, loved-by-everyone Sun, which was done by one of the dastardly Others.
Please prepare yourself for this highly intellectualize essay as Aislynn plumbs the depths of the human experience in order to try and rationalize the ideas, thoughts and feelings brought forth by this episode.
If needed, feel free to take a moment of silence, center your psychic energy, open your mind and prepare to receive this enlightened opinion.
And now... Aislynn's thoughts on "The Long Con."
Thank you, goodnight, and please drive safely. |

You're just going to have to learn to type the word "evil" instead of "sweet" in front of southern boy from now on. And while you're at it, you might want to consider changing "boy" to "bastard." And are we SURE about the southern part? Cause that could be a con too...

I didn't realyl care for the ep much, but more for the fact that I just knew as soon as I got here I'd be told just how bad it was and for what; reasons and I'd agree with them totally Thankfully I am in luck and nobody but our Sawyer girl has yet to show any specific emotions towards the episode in general
Poor ol' :Locke, got an entire camp out to get the guns and kill each other, and he's the only one who can stop it
Did ANYONE see Sawyer as the stealer of the guns? Furthermore, what exactly did he do in that whole con? he talked to Kate then sat and put in the numbers. Kinda all Charlie's work really.
Speaking of Charlie: YES! Angsty Charlie! He even badly hurt Sun! YAY! YAY! YAY! lol
You just gotta love Sawyer's lines. he says everything we're all thinking (like about the Claire/Locke stuff lol) still one of my favs.
Ah well, next week looks like one of those plot-moving eps can't wait!

Evil Charlie and Sawyer= awesome.
My reaction to Kate's mum: Yeah.. And? Are people going to ever have any kindof meaningful meetings in flashbacks? The con upon con upon con was a bit crazy in the flashback. I mean if you keep throwing up twists you're going to tie the audience up in knots.
Err where was Jolene Blalock? I think Sawyer could have done a lot better than the woman they did cast. JB would have been hot in the role. _________________

I always loved Sawyer's edge, it's a part of his appeal, but I kinda liked him being all sweet and soft better so this twist last night was a big surprise... Still love Sawyer but I didn't like the ep that much... _________________

So okay- have they switched writers again? becausethe "out of character" writing continues. I know Sawyer is the bad-boy, but this was RANDOMLY horrible- did like his speech though, it was very amusing. But RANDOM evil!
And yeah Aislynn, I agree 100 %
Yeah Vincent's a complete jinx- if I hadnt seen the preview, I wouldve known something was going to happen to Sun because of that dog. Not saying hes behind it or anything, hes just a bad omen.
Think about it:
Jack saw the dog---> people from crash died after
Vince watching Jack, Kate, Charlie---> plane was attacked by the monster
Boone saw the dog--> died
Walt---> led to Polar bear, then soon after, kidnapped
Shannon---> led her to the other group, died
Sun---> saw the dog, attacked
ANYWAY I really didnt care for tonights episode- as for character arcs, they totally destroyed Sawyers on this one. We know hes tough etc., but I think underneath it all hes basically a good person- an Autolycus character. I know we love our characters, but the people on the show were supposed to be changing.
Also, Locke had no right to move those guns. I dont think Jack was going to do it behind his back- how could he? Locke woudve been RIGHT THERE in the hatch! Yeah and out of character for Charlie as well.
KILL BILL ABSOLUTELY!!! I told my fam when Sawyer and Jack faced off at the beginning that "this is SO not about the pills" and when Ana and Kate faced off "again, nothing to do with guns". So who would win if the four got into a bitch slapping contest? I actually like all four of them, but going on past demonstrations of fighting ability I would have to say Sawyer would win (Jack did get his ass handed to him by Ethan that first time), and Ana would win (Kate is a good fighter, but its more like a "self defense" style).
Blah blah sorry everyone, couldnt wait to get to work so I could comment. Totally out of character.
AND PAUL---> totally agree on the Kate's mom thing, lol. AND...? Like Boone seeing Sawyer at the police station- he never brought it up, although maybe he was too classy to throw that in anyone's face. Who the hell knows.
Anyone want to throw guesses on who is "the other"? And this doesnt mean wrong or right, just total guesses. Mine would have to be:
Locke, Libby, Vincent (c'mon!)
Thats it for now. _________________

When I saw Vincent come out of the bushes and Sun got attacked I so thought that maybe he had been trained by the others to lead people to them or something. _________________

O...kay.
That was...different.
Maybe it's because I have the flu and am too lightheaded to think straight, but my reaction to this episode wasn't too strong. Just "O...kay."
I love Sawyer. This was a WTF! Episode for him though. I was a little sad at how his desire to be hated, as Rocksiren said, was just RANDOMNLY brought up again last night. What made him do it? I. Am. Confused.
His speech was all very cool and good, nicely said *cough*, but I ONLY thought he took it too far when he was talking to Sayid about torture. Oh. Poor Sayid. I, even if I were Sawyer attempting to get people against me, would NOT go as far as picking on the man who had just lost the love in his life, in this case, Shannon. *tear* Other than that, I enjoyed his speech and hung on to every word, although I just kept on thinking "WHY IS HE DOING THIS?"
Despite the Sawyer WTFness, I loved the Skate in this episode. When Sawyer was all, "Good thing you don't hate me, Freckles" and Kate's eyes filled up with tears [dude, she so doesn't], I had to let out a "SQUEE!", despite the circumstances. And the line, "You run, I con. Tiger don't lose his striples [or something to that effect]." KILLED ME. That was great. I haven't lost all faith in the writers.
AND WOOT, I couldn't have been the only one felt the intensity between the Kate and AnaLucia stare! How awesome was that? Michelle and Evangeline were both so good at it. I wonder if they practised beforehand? Heh, I could see them just randomnly glaring at each other between takes. Gah, I love this cast.
Hmm...the whole Sun abduction thing wasn't as exciting as I thought it would be. But OMFG!1JIN. How adorable is that man? "Gun. Gun. GUN." I was all "GIVE HIM A GUN JACK, DAMMIT"! even though...Jin didn't exactly have anyone to go after to shoot...but, you know...just to see him defend his ladylove...*chokes up* Yay for Jun.
I actually was not surprised that it was Charlie who "abducted" Sun. I recognized Sawyer's description of the black hood, and since, you know, the fact that Charlie had returned to wearing his hood up was SO stressed at the end of Fire+Water, I definitely considered Charlie as a #1 suspect, but why he did it was beyond me. But, DUH, it ws because of Sawyer's mad conning skillz!! I like the idea of Charlie doing it all, not for drugs, but just to make Locke look like a fool, if only for a second. Nobody else seems to care about Locke's smackdown of my hobbit, though. This makes me rather emo. But I'll get over it in a matter of minutes.
Hmmm.
I felt bad for Jack and Locke in this episode. Yeah. And I haven't been the biggest fan of either of them lately. But I pined for them here. They were so innocent. Heh. I loved Jack's freak-out-ness. "WHERE ARE THE GUNS?!!!!11" - Locke: "I hid them." Bwhaha. I love this show.
One line that disturbed me: "Locke has his needs, just like the rest of us." OHH SHUDDER. KATE SO DIDN'T WANT THE VISUALS EITHER. You saw that grimace! "Claire ASKED him to sleep down here." Oh, God...ugh... Other than that, I liked that scene between Sawyer and Kate. "How to tell he's a sensitive man.' Hee. Desmond must have had a good read down there in the hatch...I miss Desmond.
I also miss Claire. When she randomnly stumbled into the Jack/Ana [or was it Jack/Kate] scene on the beach and was all "JACK! SUN'S AWAKE!", I was like to my mom "Betcha 10$ that's her only line tonight." Sigh. I hope we don't go back to the days where Claire/Emilie de Ravin made random, rare appearances. Woe.
But, although I found many things to amuse me in this episode...I think it's the flu...The Long Con definitely wasn't my favorite, and I usually adore Sawyer eps. Though this was just...meh. Like I said, I didn't really get much out of it, just some random things to poke fun at. I know, I'm horrible.
Next ep looks much more promising. Yay for TimeForTorture!Sayid. The preview makes it look like Locke is the Other, but I think we know well enough by now that NOTHING ACTUALLY HAPPENS AS IT IS PLAYED OUT IN THE PREVIEWS. Oh, well.
I give this ep maybe 5 out of 10, because of all of the WTF-ing I did. _________________
