One of the unique and cool things about LVI is the ability to vote on vids. As a vidder, it’s exciting to see how others would “rank” your work. As a viewer, it’s fun to give your opinion on what award a video gets.

Voting is open to all members of LVI, whether they submit vids themselves or not. It’s easy to keep track of newly submitted vids by going to the “My Picks” section of the main site, and clicking “Awaiting Judgement”. All vids require 5 votes to receive a Viewer’s Pick.
It seems that lately, the majority of voting is done by the Council Members. The CMs job is to vote on the vids in order for them to possibly receive a Council Pick. CMs votes also go into the Viewer’s Pick, but it would be great for more members to actively vote on more vids!

Beginning in February, we are going to have a monthly contest – which member votes on the most vids! This will be purely by number of votes, it has nothing to do with the color you vote or if you comment on vids – though comments are always nice! Also, it would be a good idea to make note of what vids catch your eye the most. In March, we will announce the winner of our first “Most Active Voter” award, along with a small banner...and another surprise!

Though I think this is an interesting and intriguing contest is there a way to make sure the vidder is actually getting the vote they deserve and not just someone going in and voting without watching the vid?

Great question, Brooke! Regular voting rules still apply:

the Council does watch the voting and will privately question you if we feel there's something amiss with your vote.

So, as always, it is up to the members to be sure they are voting fairly, which includes watching the video all the way through before voting.

I've fallen behind on my video watching/voting these last couple months. I have been meaning to get caught up.
