I'm halfway through the second book and
OMGOMGOMG
[spoiler:f5dc747155]they've captured Cinna just before Katniss had to go into the arena again!
I'm so scared for his life! He is easily one of my favourite characters! I hope he'll live, but I'm afraid he won't... [/spoiler:f5dc747155] |

Me too! This is my No.1-Must-See-Movie in the new year!
I finished the second book about two weeks ago... and I wasn't allowed to buy myself the third book before Christmas. No fair! I'm DYING to read how the story continues.
The song is really beautiful, by the way. I think it fits the mood of the story perfectly well.
Thank you for posting this, Eryn! |

I've been listening to the song over and over again. My god, it's so sad, yet so beautiful! |

Ooo, congrats on getting the third book, Karolina!
I'm dying to get both the second and third book, I keep hoping they'll come out in paperback sometime soon. *fingers crossed* I have the first book in trade paperback so I'd like the others to match it, you know? But if I get desperate, I'll have to go ahead and get the next books in hardback.
I totally love that song now. I can't wait to see it used in the movie! (Hope the soundtrack will be out sometime soon, too! ) |

Oh, I know that feeling. My Harry Potter books all look different and my copy of Hunger Games 1 doesn't match with part 2 and 3.... it bothers me, but I'm too impatient if I like a series. I have to get my hands on the next part ASAP, no matter what the edition looks like

If the rest of the songs is anyway near as good as this one here, I'm so buying the soundtrack! |

Oh, Ais! I know what you mean about wanting to wait for the trade paperbacks. I do that, too, but sometimes it takes them so long to come out. I hope they come out soon so you can finish up the series.
Ooo, Karolina!!! I can't wait 'til you finish!!! |

I realized that I never left a proper review of book 3, so here it is:
[spoiler:17801c1759]All in all, I loved the third book! Well, I loved ALL THREE books actually
Even though I was more of a Gale-fangirl I like the fact that Katniss ended up being with Peeta. I can't quite point my finger at it, but he seems to be the better match for her emotionally. He's more gentle and sensitive than Gale and I think that's just what Katniss needs.
I heard a lot of people complaining about the ending.... they were disappointed that Katniss is NOT the "big hero" in the end, but that - for most parts - she ends up being broken and damaged.
Well, I think that the ending is PERFECT because it's more realistic than most other stories about war. Katniss was, is and will always be a hero and a symbol of rebellion and revolution, but it is the fact that she is damaged and broken... and "just" a human being after all... that makes me love her even more.
I think Suzanne Collins made a perfect decision by NOT turning Katniss into that classic hero but showing what effects the war and all the deaths have on her and her mental state. And that it takes someone like Peeta to fix her.
What I didn't like about the third book was all the fainting and blacking out. It felt like cheating on the author's part. It was always at the very point when things would get exciting... or really bad for Katniss... that Collins had her blacking out. It felt like Collins had no real ideas how to tie things at that point, how to continue the story... especially when the bombs dropped on Prim and the wounded kids, and the rebels were about to conquer the Capitol. Having other characters telling Katniss the story of what happened after the bombs were dropped was rather dull. Guh, I was really upset about this part of the book.
I was also really upset about the way the way Finnick's death was handled and that we never were given any real answers about what happened to Cinna. (Of course he's dead, but still....)
What I liked though was the whole plot twist with Coin and the bombs and that Katniss killed her in the end and not Snow. I really didn't see that coming but it was brilliant and just the type of thing she would do
All in all, I'm really satisfied and happy about having read the series. I was actually really sad when it was over because the books were really addictive! [/spoiler:17801c1759] |

[spoiler:6348df886c]I thought Coin dying was the biggest plot twist of all! And that series was FULL of them!
I was really disappointed with the way Finnick's death was handled too. It reminded me of when Wash died in Serenity....blink and you missed it. I loved Finnick and I would have appreciated some time to mourn him and Cinna! [/spoiler:6348df886c] |

I agree 100%, Karolina! Great review! I'm so glad you enjoyed the series. Your review makes me want to re-read the series again. It really was such an enjoyable story.
Eryn, what you said about the Serenity character... YES! I felt the same way on both counts. Heh... and regarding the Serenity character, Steven won't even watch episodes of the show or movie anymore because of that.
In a related to the Hunger Games series story... my niece is 14, and over the summer I mentioned that she might enjoy THG. I only brought it up twice, but apparently she was very annoyed about it and told my mom she had no desire to read it. Last week in her English class, she found out they have to read the series and then they're going on a field trip to see the movie when it comes out. She was soooo mad! I think she thinks I somehow coerced her teacher into making her read it. Haha! I hope she enjoys it anyway. |

Are you sure you can't buy the paperbacks? I got all 3 paperbacks for my birthday in November 2010 though that might just be the UK publisher.
Even though I hated the casting for this movie at first, I'm getting so excited as it gets closer! May need a re-read of at least the first book before the film comes out. |
