The Details

November is the month of Thanksgiving, a time to join together with the people you love and celebrate the things that make you happy! We’re challenging you to make a video showing your favourite characters being thankful for each other.

You could do a straight-up happy-times montage showing the Modern Family having fun together, or you could even build your own, loving, AU family! Think of Jack, Kate and Aaron spending quality time together whilst on vacation . Crossovers are welcome too, imagine if The Doctor and Daniel Faraday were BFF’s who looked out for each other during their time-traveling antics.

However, if you do decide make a video about a romantic relationship please keep the main focus of the video on the family aspect. We’re looking for cheery videos showing close relationship’s between family members or friends. They can be canon, AU, or crossovers, the choice is yours!

Most importantly, remember to have fun! We’re looking forward to seeing what you come up with!


The Rules

Specific Contest Rules:

• Make a happy video about your favourite family or friendship.
• Running time should be no longer than 5 minutes. We suggest the 3-5 minute range.
• No trailers or promos
• AUs, Crossovers and OCs are allowed.
• The more creative, the better. Don't be afraid to take risks.
• When entering your video on the Submit page, you MUST enter "November 2011 contest submission" exactly in your vid's description.

General Contest Rules:

• Contest submissions should be entered through the Submit page
• All regular submissions Rules apply.
• Only one entry per vidder
• Videos already submitted and RELEVANT can be submitted again, but we would rather see something fresh. (Please contact a CM if you wish to enter a previously-submitted video)
• Please do not use Rapidshare or Yousendit as your only hosting place.
• If you're using Youtube as your primary link, please also provide us with an alternative link. Far too often, YT is either disabled or muted by the time the contest is ready to be judged. Mediafire, zshare and Megaupload are just a few of the sites out there that can be used as reliable backup links.
• Keep in mind that however you choose to host your video, it must be available to be watched at least until after the deadline has passed. If we can not access your video at the time of judgment it will not be considered.

Question: When you say you want the focus to be on a family rather than a ship, could you make it about that ship becoming a family? Like for example, in the early seasons of Bones, Brennan said she was never getting married or having children (because her own family abandoned her) and now she and Booth are in a committed relationship, expecting a baby together. Could I make it about how he convinced her that having a family was a good thing?

Samara, as long as the focus is on the family element, that'll fit what the contest is asking for. We just aren't looking for straight-up shipper vids for this one but for happy videos about family or friendship, so how you interpret that will be up to you.

2) can it be about/include the cast as themselves, or does it have to be within the show itself?

Millie, the answer to both of your questions is yes. It can definitely be multifandom and it would also be fine if it was about the cast themselves, so long as it's still a happy, family-and-friends type of vid.

I have an idea for a GA video focusing on the Mark/Callie/Arizona/Sophia family but I can't think of a nice, boppy song for them. Does anyone have any ideas?

Hey Brooke, sorry about the late reply.
Yes, it's no problem if you show a dysfunctional as long as the focus is on the "family" part and how they had their good moments and used to stick together inspite of all the bad stuff.
