Do you think that scene at the end with Jack and Kate was re-shot b/c for some reason Kate looked different but then Jack had short hair so I guess it was the same footage? Maybe it was just a different angle from what I've seen before?

However, I did feel a little short changed in other areas: the background of AJ's character, why pockets of light and magnetivity would translate (in MIB's mind) to a way off the island, and why MIB thought making a hole and attaching the "donkey wheel" to it would get them off the island. Obviously, we know he was right, but how did he know that? Yes, I know he told AJ that he just knows because he's special, but that seemed like a bit of a cop out to me.

He can talk to dead people so I figured he had a chat with some egyptians lol

Because not all twins look alike. I have two friends who are actually identical twins, and they have similarities and differences.

With Jacob and MIB they're not identical twins they are fraternal twins. That's what it says in the book of Jacob and Esau.

I don't think we've learned everything we need to know. I think there is still more pieces to the puzzle that is the island and Jacob/MIB. I think there is more to that mom, because once she looked at MIB I knew she saw something, and I knew she was going to do something.

I liked how they were written in this as well.

I thought MIB actually showed a lot of similarities with the 'mom'.

A) He doesn't like when people come there, and he does the exact thing, he kills those that don't belong.

B) The phrase "They come they fight",

And it was Jacob who was against killing the people, and thinking they're all bad. I wanted them to touch upon that.

Ah okay cool thanks for that Brooke! I don't claim to be a geneticist.

I just think tonight's episode confirmed that it is not about good and evil it's about two guys on an island who both in my humble opinion have really horrible ideas on how to deal with people.

This episode confused the hell out of me but I loved it.

I really feel for MIB now because he really was a victim in this whole thing. He found out that his "mom" killed his real mom, and he wanted to get as far away from her as possible and go home (which is totally understandable). Then after 30 years he finally finds a way to leave and his mom buries any chance of that and murders everyone MIB has known and lived with in his life. MIB kills her because (She was a crazy, murderous psycho). Jacob beats him up twice in this episode and MIB never even tries to fight back (He never had any intention of hurting his brother). Then jacob throws him into the light and takes away everything he was (His body, humanity, soul, etc.) Leaving MIB a souless demon which is pure evil. But the real MIB just wanted to leave the island like our losties did.

I thought Jacob was the much more flawed character. And his punishment for killing his brother, was to stay on the island and keep the evil that he created from ever leaving. Instead of what he was meant to do which was to protect the light on the island, not create a darkness.

I'm still really confused about what exactly the light is and how it can be accessed from different electromagnetic points on the island. But I don't think we will ever get an answer about that. We just have to let our imaginations figure it out.

I searched about Jacob (The bible Jacob) so that's how I knew.

I think there is a theme of good and evil, but the show is also about redeeming the 'evil' too.

I think the mom is crazy, she may know something but the way she went about handling it screwed up these two nice boys.

Really enjoyed the episode but I have some problems.. if they're twins why do they not look anything like each other?

Fraternal twins can look quite different from one another. Also, I kind of feel like whatever mystical elements make one good and one bad might play into their appearances to some degree.

And why do they still have american accents before america presumably even existed?

I think they tried to address that in the beginning when the two women were speaking Latin and then it turned to American English. I think we were supposed to imagine that they were still speaking Latin, and that Jacob and MIB were speaking Latin, too. I think it's just a device to keep from having to use captions through a whole episode. Clearly they have learned English over the years, though, because we know they speak English to everyone on the island. Perhaps, like Richard, they just lost their accents over the years?

Weak, perhaps, but an explanation none-the-less. LOL!

I was wondering the same thing, Nikki! I kind of think it must have been re-shot, or we'd all remember Jack finding the pouch with the black and white rocks in it. It would have been awesome if it was there all along, though. I might go see if I can dig that scene out.

WTF was that???

I'm sorry but... WTF??? No answers!! Light?? Alison Janney didn't answer any questions, she just sounded like a nut. Of course, she killed Claudia so I didn't like he rfrom the start.

The boys were just adorable, and good actors too:) Jacob could pass as an older aaron, and MiB could pass for an older-Jabie And the birth scene of the twins will be useful for vidding; but that's my highlight of the ep. I thought for sure if we saw MiB's BIRTH we're get his NAME!!! I also loved the greek-inspired dresses the women wore; why did they get such nice clothes yet The Others were dressed in rags?

But come one, the reason MiB wants to leave is because his fake Mummy told him a fib??

I still don't know which twin is the good one. :S

I liked it more than Recon; but definitely one of the worst eps of the season/show in my opinion. An ep like this should have been put on earlier in the season; not 3 eps before the end of the entire show.

And yeh Nik im pretty sure it was stock footage from that ep, Jack was a little chubbier around the face in season 1

I blame the mom for what Jacob did to MIB, for both attacks. Jacob wanted her approval because he never felt like she loved him as much as she loved MIB. So of course he was going to want to stay with her becuase he was a 'mommas boy' who needed her love. MIB already had it.

I understand why Jacob attacked him, even though MIB never meant to hurt his brother in that scene, he did.

Same when he killed MIB, so MIB wasn't entirely blameless there, he killed Jacob's mother.

They are both to blame for different aspects.

And who is to say he knew what would happen to MIB if he threw him in the light, he only knew he couldn't go there.

The episode sucked for me personally because last week was AWESOME, then we're stuck with this, it doesn't explain anything, and just gives us more confused questions.

I think in the beginning both were Innocent, but then Allison screwed them both up by eventually making them enemies because of her actions toward both.

So now, I think MIB is evil, and Jacob HAS to keep him on the island because of that.

LOL! Poor Kat! Where is Ais with the cookies when we need her?

Dennis--excellent thoughts, my friend! I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with this episode.

I had a feeling the boy running around that MIB was seeing was Jacob. It was most likely his guilt eating at him.

I can't associate MIB with Terry. There are certain scenes, but the most time he just reminds me of just a pissed off Locke, and I love Terry. I just think Titus Welliver is better at it.

Jack finding the pouch WAS in the original clip from S1E6!!! That is CRAZY cool!!!

Hmmm... the bodies were not side by side, though. Interesting.

I think they're meant to be fraternal (non identical) twins even though they're both male.

I have a twin brother and our colouring is pretty different: my eyes are green, his are blue, I have olive skin, he has fair skin and for some reason my hair is a lot lighter than his. I'm also really tiny whereas he has more of a medium build even though we were both born about two months premature.

So it can happen. Regardless of whether they're boy/girl, girl/girl or boy/boy, fraternal twins don't share any more genes than ordinary siblings because they come from two separate eggs that just happen to be fertilised at the same time. I figure the MIB takes after their mother while Jacob looks more like their father.

Btw, Jack and Kate definitely found the black and white stones back in season 1. I just checked and it was in The House of the Rising Sun. As much as I would love to have seen some new stuff with them, I'm pretty sure they just used the same footage.
