Assuming he's telling the truth.
This episode was AWESOME! I am even more intrigued by Jacob and MIB than I was before. Jacob really shocked me in this episode. I was crying at the scene with Richard and Hurley. |

Something I was surprised about was Richard being Jacob's repressentive' for those that are sent to the island by Jacob.
To me, Richard didn't seem like a representative to help out the people to not be killed by MIB/Smokey. He only seemed more interested in Locke, and that just felt odd to me...because if he was, wouldn't he have helped the Losties? Especially since there were Candidates or Jacob?
And I have always been confused as to why Ben was so violent towards him, the first half of season 3 just seems pointless now, why would they let Ben treat the losties like that if they're special? And how did they not know Ben wasn't special?
Sorry. LOL. I just never figured out why the Losties were treated like crap by the others, if the others should have known what's going on. |

I personally believe Jacob. What he was saying sounded WAY more truthful than what MIB was saying, and he seemed to me to give more answers. However, it kind of felt like MIB was twisting his words around so it sounded like he was giving Richard answers... I think FLocke is doing that too (obviously, since they're the same person) as well as just telling people what they want to hear.
I don't believe for a second that they're all dead. It was also odd, thinking about it, that Richard suddenly believed, after like 150 years, everything MIB told him. But I'm glad Hurley came along at the end and stopped him from leaving. It was also awesome how he totally cut Jack out of it. Sorry, I'm not trying to diss on Jack, because he's been a lot more tolerable this season, but I think he's really annoying how he has to know everything about everything that's going on. It's good for him to not be in control.
Hmm... let's see, what else...
I can't think of anything else at the moment. Except that I LOVE Jacob! (And I'm really intrigued by the kind of civil relationship he has/had with MIB). |

Great episode. I'm very confused.
I'd like to know why MIB appeared to Richard so quickly and tried to get him to kill Jacob, but MIB never appeared to the flight 815 losties to try to get them to kill Jacob?
It was nice to finally get an answer to how the Black Rock was so far inland and how the statue was destroyed. I'd still like to know how exactly Jacob brought the ship to the island?
I loved seeing the scenes with MIB and Jacob. I wish they both could be in the show more often. I just think the actor who plays MIB is a lot creepier than Terry O'quinn and is a lot more believable as smokey. Resurrect Locke and bring back MIB.
I'd also like to know why Jacob beat the shit out of Richard when he tried to kill him but didn't even lift a finger when Ben kills him. It makes me think that it was all part of Jacobs plan.
I'm interested to know what Jacobs power was over MIB to keep him trapped on the island and what a candidate will have to do to get that same power.
This episode was a lot to take in. I still have no idea where this is headed. It should be interesting. |

"It's good to see you out of those chains..." LOVED THAT!!
Muuuchhh bettterr!!!!! *pats Lost's head* I love how this one was filmed; i wonder if they got someone new in to do it. I thought the intercuts of richard in the jungle while the beach folk talked about him were really clever and helped move the story along without having to watch one long scene. Altho with the first flashback of Ilana and Jacob; i dunno why they used the stock footage from The Incident for the first half of the scene and then changed it :S Why not re-shoot the whole thing? Money, i guess :S
Other than that, loved it!! Nestor on that horse - millie, you must have died and that accent... jesus; i about fainted
Widfield? Perhaps ye olde Widmore?
I KNEW he'd be on the Blackrock!!! Slight Tie-in with Danielle!! I see a crack!ship coming! So the boat is what broke the foot another mystery solved ;P
Man i was so tense through so many parts, I've been missing that from Lost this year! The whole scene in the depths of the Blacrock when that horrid officer knifed those guys and smoky attacked; man my heart was racing!
Ew; did the boar have to make such a gross reappearance?
Gah, Isabella gettnig nabbed by the monster When she popped up I had a feeling she'd save Richard, and they'd have their little happy life with Jacob and Esau, and then she'd die. apparently not ;P
So, the Island is Hell? Not sure I buy that. Im hoping their still using it as a metaphor :S A ruse to get a devout man like ye olde Richard to kill someone.
btw, am I the only one who thinks of the nursery rhyme "The Old Woman Who Lives In a A Shoe" whenever they mention that jacob/the devil lives in the foot of the statue?
I still don't know whose the good guy... Flocke or Jacob...its so funny when they refer to jacob as the Devil, because on Supernatural he is!!! |

I gotta say that this was probably one of the best episodes of the season. Who f-ing knew Nestor had that in him? I've always loved him, but he hasn't had much range on the show (other than "oo, I'm mysterious & look like I'm wearing guyliner"). So I was very, very impressed by his performance.
And now I feel absolutely horrible for Richard...and honestly, I'm a little upset. They have this character on here for so long, make him so mysterious and make us think that he has all the answers, when the reality is, he's just as lost as we are!! That's kind of f-ed up, if you ask me. I can see it from a "oh wow, didn't see that one coming" kind of standpoint, but I guess I just feel a little gypped that the entire time, they made it seem like he was a major player in the game, but it turns out he was only really a pawn.
But in spite of that, I still loved this episode. Nestor was absolutely heartbreaking, and it's made me see Richard in a whole new light. And as much as I love him, I'm kind of hoping he dies either before or at the end of the series. I think death would befit him very much, and I think this is one of those rare instances where his death would actually be a happy ending.
I'm so intrigued by the MIB/Jacob thing. I want to know more!! I don't want to wait 7 episodes, I want to know now!!! I'm just kind of tired of going back & forth. I'm starting to believe that not a one of them is truly good....but perhaps Jacob is the lesser of two evils..... |

I think some of the consistency in this show is disappearing.
When MIB is first introduced. It seems like he likes the island, he's just tried of Jacob bringing people on it because he believes that there aren't good people.
But I never got a sense that it was hell. I think it was MIB just trying to toy with Richard who was already vulnerable and easy to manipulate. As seen when he was 'Isabella'. (Which I still don't get. She didn't die on the island, I was pretty sure he could only take the forum of a person who died on the island.)
But I believed Jacob more than I did MIB. |

Okay so my big issue with this episode right off the bat..
THE FRIGGIN SHIP BROKE THE STATUE??!?
Are you serious? I have a really hard time believing that. Also the scene doesn't sit well with me concerning the season 5 finale where we see Jacob and MIB looking out to sea and see the Black Rock which has almost come ashore and the water is completly calm. Yet we are to believe a storm of tidal wave proportions is meant to be brewing.
I agree with everyone who said Nestor's acting was great. I was really happy to see him with a spanish background which made the only logical sense in my head as the actor has spanish roots. I was dreading him speaking American on the Black Rock or something or being an american which would have made little sense.
Loved the scenes between Richard and MIB and Jacob. I'm still not buying Jacob's act. He just comes across as pompous and self righteous to me. You have to ask yourself why does he get to decide everything? I also am not sure all would go to pot if Smokey got off the island. I reckon the Alt timeline is where smokey got off and everyone's lives do seem a lot better. Funny that eh Jacob? Or at least there is no Jacob messing with everyone's lives. |

I don't trust Jacob.... MIB can't kill Jacob himself.... so if all Jacob wants is to keep evil contained on the island, why the hell does he keep bringing people to the island for MIB to try to corrupt?! because he is the one bringing them... and for what reason? to find someone to replace him, to keep MIB contained? to make some point about humanity, killing countless people in the process?? because tons of people have died in all the plane/boat crashes... yeah, I don't trust Jacob.... I don't trust MIB/Flocke either... but I'm not convinced that one of them is good and one is evil...
LOVED finally finding out more about Richard... but gah, I feel so bad for him... I think it's really interesting that he wanted to live forever because he didn't want to go to hell... and I don't think it was actually Isabella on the island, it was Smokey, like he used Alex with Ben to manipulate him... but the scene with Richard/Hurley/ghost!Isabella was amazing
I think the change in Richard this season is very interesting... very understandable considering he's spent the past 150-ish years helping Jacob with something that is still unaccomplished and now Jacob is dead and he has no more answers than when he first came to the island so now wants other options... |

I
LOVED
THIS
EPI

it was so worth being tired for the rest of the day because I woke up peridically in the night out of pure excitement xD
I have always ADORED Nestor speaking Spanish so I was so glad that Richard had Spanish roots <33 his acting was brilliant, he should get like an award or something.
JACOB! MiB! their scenes were like totally epic and all the way through I was like, OMGTHISISBRILLIANT
I loved how it was mainly flashback and the present day stuff was brilliant
I LOVE RICHARD EVEN MORE NOW!!!! |

Okay I cried like a little sissy baby at the Hurley/Richard/Isabelle scene.
I loved this episode. Acting was superb on all accounts. Richards suits being the baffled Spanish dude, lol. His expressions at times reminded me od Manuel from Fawlty Towers, haha.
But seriously, who would have thought richard had such a heartbreaking story? Bless him.
I love Jacob! I also love MiB but thats not my point right now. I loved the whole "then why are you asking me where she is?!" lol.
I agree with Paul about the whole"the ship broke the statue?". I'd like the whole thing explained cause come on, in The Incident there was zero sign on any kind of storm coming on. And they were not that far away. |

| Another iconic Spanish character he reminded me of was Inigo Montoya from The Princess Bride. I was hoping he would say to Smokey "You killed my wife.. prepare to die!" |
