Sawyer as a cop was definitely not planned earlier in the season, considering Sawyer let Kate go in "LAX".

I disagree. Back when LA X first aired I had impression he knew exactly what a "341" was. If he's planning on killing someone, whats to stop him letting someone like Kate go? He's not exactly squeeky clean. I think it was planned. |

I agree, I think it was planned too, and I actually like that element of it. especially when he was telling Charlotte he could choose to become a crim or a cop and in sideways world, he chose cop but i dunno, it still didnt sit right with me. Then again, I felt that through the whole episode. |

one thing I don't get: Anthony Cooper still conned Sawyer's 'rents. And I'm guessing Locke is way older than Sawyer. How come Locke has a good relationship with his dad when he was still a conman? |

Hm.. good point millie... maybe Locke didn't know? Altho its hard to believe Locke not knowing something like that... but I guess before the Island he wasn't so in tune with stuff |

| I really feel that was the intention of this episode. I think the real con was the writers conning us into thinking that Sawyers a good cop. Then we finally realise....oh sh!t wait....no he's not. |

Overall I was really happy with this episode.
Some nice angsty Skate. The scene at the cages....<3 This is the second time we've had a scene with their theme this season, nice.
Had to LOL at the total blankness on Sayid's face.
Flockes slap to Claire was another LOL moment just because it was so out of the blue. |

Everyone lets her go, no one would let her go. Especially a cop. So I just felt like it was too easy. But that's just me.

HE let her go b/c he's not really an honest cop. He told Charlotte that he become a cop b/c he was about to become a criminal and he's going to go kill Anthony Cooper.. ..lol yeah he's not the best cop! |

Thank you for clearing that up. I was unable to see the entire episode and only saw bits and pieces. |

Thoughts on the episode....
Sawyer + Charlotte = WTF was that about? I've never seen such a random couple.....
No wonder Claire's messed up. She's been manipulated, brainwashed, and treated like a dog for three years. I found it sad and scary how FLocke could make her believe things so easily.....poor Claire. I felt so bad for her.
If Kate ends up with Aaron at the end of the series, I will cry. That is all there is to it. AND THE SHOW WOULDN'T DARE MAKE ME CRY!! (.....as if it hasn't before..... )
The flash-sideways was AWESOME in this episode!!!!!! I loved cop!Sawyer! With Miles as his partner! That was so cool. ^^ I want to know who Miles's girlfriend is.....also I want to know where Dan was. Because HE'S supposed to be with Charlotte, and Sawyer's supposed to be with Juliet. Again, all there is to it. XD
Not sure how anyone can say FLocke is a good guy after the way he treated Claire this episode. Unless, you know, you're weird, and you think Claire deserved to get treated like a dog.
Was kind of disappointed that Sawyer told FLocke about Widmore. But ah well, Sawyer's back to being all "I'll do whatever serves me best and not worry about the rest of the people." Except he cares about his friends, so that's good. I thought it was sweet when he promised Jin he wouldn't leave without Sun. |

To people who think the sideways story isn't doing the character's service.. it is a completly different reality. It's not just been reset from the plane crash, it's their whole lives. Sawyer not spending his whole life searching for the real Sawyer and living as a conman (I don't believe he has been searching for him got the feeling that folder was a recent thing that came up) would have made him a vastly different person and I'm fine with that. That's not to say he doesn't have his basic characteristics which I think he does (weakness for women etc.)
I LOVED this episode. I understand how people weren't blown away but I guess it stems from me being a huge Sawyer fan. To see him as a cop and happy (what I always wished for him) was amazing. The opening scene where it faked us out was brilliant imo as it had me totally fooled.
There were also some super meaty scenes.. Locke and Kate, Widmore and James, Locke and James. Had me on the edge of my seat just listening to the character's talk to each other.
Absolutely loved Sawyer's final statement and attitude. basically stuff them all which is how I feel about the two opposing forces on the show.. still hate the others and Jacob and Flocke is a crazy bad man lol

I enjoyed watching this episode, because I really like Sawyer as a character, but in all honesty, it was kind of a let down. This entire season has been hit or miss - as a call back to season 1 with the character building episode and such, I think in that sense, this season has been really wonderful. But in the sense of getting answers & furthering the story to draw it to a close, it's been absolutely terrible. I understand that they're trying to build things up and will most likely close with a bang, but as of right now, I don't feel any build up. I just feel frustration that they're spending time on rediculous things that are not that important - they're introducing new characters that are supposedly important, only to kill them off....
Yeah, it's just bugging. This episode was a huge let down, especially since the last episode was so good.
I did enjoy the whole anomaly of Sawyer being a cop instead of a con-man. I loved seeing Charlotte again (I didn't know exactly who it was gonna be until they said 'red-head'), and I loved the whole dynamic with Miles & Sawyer.
I kind of found myself wondering of Flocke isn't really that evil this episode. He seems to be very reasonable and he gives people a choice - and I've been saying for awhile that i don't think it's necessarily a story of good vs. evil - it's more about fate vs. free will. But that still doesn't explain how Widmore fits in.
I do have a little theory though.....I think Widmore might be on Flocke's side...as well as Eloise Hawking. Look at it this way - Eloise was the one who told them that they needed to go back to the island. Eloise was the one who told Jack that they needed to bring Locke's body back with them. What if Eloise KNEW exactly what would happen if they brought Locke back with them? And also - remember that Flocke was the one who told Richard to tell Locke that he needed to die in order to get everyone back.....so what if John Locke was MIB's escape plan all along?
I honestly don't believe that Widmore is good. I think either he's with Flocke or he has his own crazy agenda. I think it's more likely he's with Flocke though - which is probably why he made that agreement with Sawyer. He doesn't care if Flocke finds out about it because it's all part of the plan.....
I could be totally wrong about all this of course....but I'm definitely starting to suspect that Widmore & Eloise are both working for Flocke..... |

Widmore is building those anti-smokey pylons though so why would he do that if he was in league with him?
I think we are yet to see whether the flash sideways will pay off.. gotta wait till the end I reckon to see how they are gonna make sense. You have to give the writers props for introducing yet another twist in how to do the flashbacks. They could have just done a straight island story but they try and change it up each season and hey it might not work out but they are really brave and great writers for giving it a go.
I do like Flocke's straight guy attitude.. telling you how it is and not really lying. That's not to say he isn't manipulating people we shall have to see if he comes through on his promises. His relationship with Claire disturbs me somewhat :S |
