I hope for the better too The one that that irritates me about him, which has more to do with the show than Jack, is that he never said anything/did anything when he found out Claire was his sister :S if she was in his mind when he was plotting to get back, he never said that and it always irritated me :S but Claire's neglect in this show is something I'm used too :S |

I think Jack is one of the most pragmatic survivors of the crash. He seems the most believeable in such a situation. He actually handles his emotions pretty well for someone who gets bashed as being "a cry-baby", he is the only doctor on the Island at the time of the Survivors being alone, and unfortunately by being such a strong and relying person he is appointed indirectly to be their ''leader''.
Some people do joke about how "whiny" he is, but then he does have to deal with all the guilt of the choices he made FOR and BY those who made him the ''leader'' in the first place. Most of the Jack-bashing that goes on isn't always entirely to do with his character, there's going to be certain hostilities towards him because of the love triangle. ===because when I started watching Lost 5 years ago at the age of 15 I was just as childish and hated Sawyer because I was a Jater, but now that I actually have gone beyond the stupid ''love triangle'' I love Sawyer! AND I actually take Lost in as its story which is just layered with such diverse themes and facades that just juxtapose everything! Its a hell of a lot more in-depth that it appears. And each of these characters have been crafted such a way to fit intricately into the story that at the end of the day its not really about how annoying they appear..
Just like Jack has been forced into leadership on the Island, it is his job again OFF of the Island to take everyone back. Something that he himself did not want to do. I think him as a character would definitely be someone who I would want to stick by on the Island because at least he gets something done.
But true say the whole fact he didn't acknowledge Claire at all after finding out they're related was a bit of an anticlimax but I'm guessing that is just part of who he is to deal with things like that lol
Anyway thats my Jack love rant. He has always been one of my fave characters. |

I love your icon Anna! It's perfect for this thread!
And a hug of appreciation for Jack would be nice. Especially if it's from Kate. |

He would like that. A lot. As evidenced by his dopey grin and complete obliviousness to her stealing his gun in TBOTE.
Hmm... This Jack thread is rapidly turning into a Jate thread, but I guess you can't like Jack without wanting him to win Kate in the end.
I don't think he would ever get over it (and the fact the had "had her and lost her") if he didn't. He was going to marry her. |

You think of Jack the same way you think of your boyfriend and yet you're a Skater?! I will never understand the Sawyer/Skate = hot fantasy thing.
Btw, Jack may act like an ass occasionally, but his actions are usually motivated by good intentions. The same cannot be said of Sawyer at least 75 per cent of the time. He pretty much just is an ass. |

| Do you think he'd be blaming and wanting to kill Sawyer if the tables were reversed? |

I don't. He'd be upset, yes, he would be in remorse and grief but to kill? I just don't think he's capable of killing. |

Honestly, I think if Kate died, Jack would be more inclined to blame himself for not being able to protect/save her than anyone else. He'd probably grow another beard and get back up on that bridge!
I think out of him and Sawyer, he doesn't just love her the most -- he needs her the most. He needs someone in his corner to take care of him remind him that he's not responsible for everything bad that happens in the world and that it's okay to let go sometimes. Sawyer seems to manage okay without Kate (without Juliet remains to be seen) but Jack doesn't. |

Yet he pulled the trigger on Locke in season 4. That was really shocking |
