I saw District 9 last weekend and let me tell you, that was really good. Not what I expected at all, but I did like it.

I saw that a couple of weeks ago Summer! I agree; it wasnt what i expected but I really liked it. I didn't like the humour they tried to add in there with that guys wife and family; but i liked the subtext off it and how it showed how horribly people could be to anyone; even aliens. a bit gorey in places, like when his nails were coming off but i have a weak stomach for that. I jumped a mile when they undid that bandage on his arm!

I thought that District 9 was amazing! I was totally numb after I saw it the first time. I just kept saying "that movie was really really really good". Not only for the sci fi-ness, but the whole political aspect, which was what it was really about. I thought it was fantastic.

Oh, I know! My dad and I were grossed out when that happened... one time is enough to last me a life time (I saw a nail part on a TV show) and I agree, the gore was enough after a couple of times, they didn't need it at parts that didn't need it. I wasn't too fond of the humor either. How about that ending though? I liked all of that, but at the same time, I didn't... but the very end, I did like.

I thought that the whole getting inside the robot thingie was a bit too transformers meets power rangers for me. But I didn't even notice until the second time I saw the movie. The gore didn't really bother me much, if there is an advanced alien race out there, they probably would have weapons that would do those things (like explode bodies Dr. Manhattan style! lol Ew) and if they were in that situation, they'd use them! The very end was great though.

I agree allie; the politcal aspect was what got to me. they treated them so horribly even when they were co-operating.

i didnt like the cat food thing or how they made it so that guy had to be a nerd first before he became a hero. the effects of it were fantastic tho. anything with guns and explosions is alright by me Kinda left the door open for a sequel tho didn't it just the spitting out of the nails made my skin crawl!!

I applaud Peter Jackson for this tho because I feel like he made it how he wanted to make it. he has Lord of the Rings money; he can do what he likes. I would love that type of freedom!

yeah, that robot part did seem a bit tranformers to me also, but it was done well either way though... and I liked the politcal aspect too, it made me think and it was different I thought than any other movie that's had politcal aspects to them.

I thought everyone did a really good job with filming and acting, especially Sharlto Copley (Wikus) Everything felt pretty real to me, like it happened and we're just now seeing the footage. I like it when they do that kinda film with the hand held type of cameras, it also reminded me of Colverfield... another great movie I loved!

I agree, Sharlto Copely was exceptionally amazing. I can't believe it's his first movie! I realized the second time around just how incredible an actor he was, especially in the scene where he's talking to his wife on the phone for the first time after he's on the run and he answers and is like "Baby? Baby is that you? Please let it be you" or something like that. It was so sad and real.

Saw Inglorious Basterds this weekend - WOW

I'd say it's definitely on par with Tarantino's earlier work. Probably better than Kill Bill (and i really liked Kill Bill). So yeah....if you haven't seen it yet and like Tarantino - do yourself a favor and go to the theater and see it. It's definitely worth it
