oh; that's the Anne Hathaway one Nik? I saw that a month or so ago and I agree; crappy, crappy storyline. And no engagement with the characters. Plus it went on too long since about 3/4 of the way through they give you the full story :S _________________

yep thats the one...and I thought her and that guy had absolutely no chemistry what so ever and the ending was just dumb b/c its been done way too many times. And she just seemed to be too young to be playing the role she was playing... _________________

Yep; they totally had no chemistry. I love Anne Hathaway, she's the reason I rented it, but it was such a silly movie really :S had potential but they had bad casting and crappy storytelling so it just fell really flat to me :S
Just finished watching The Uninvited with Emily Browning; its better than I thought it would be. its actually pretty good not gorey, really engaging and a good thriller and Emily's really good in it:) _________________

The Ruins, one of those movies where it seems good but its just been made by the wrong people. Lame cast and bad writing. The story is pretty good; definitely got me to rent it. But its acted very immaturely; very basic. And everything feels overexplained. Y'know when you see those people in a B grade movie who are like the supporting cast? Picture everyone in the movie like that. Ok; but not great. that's what I'd call the whole movie.
Pretty good tension though But there's uncessessary nekkidness, and swearing, which I think are very cheap. Of course two girls would sleep in their underwear and hug each other to keep warm at night :S it then got a bit stupid. Killer plants? a little too Harry Potter. and the CGI stuff came off almost laughable as was the ending. Plus, if these ancient ruins are so dangerous and people aren't allowed on them; at least invest in a sign :S
But, that guy from Animorphs was in it, lolz _________________

Last movie we saw was District 9 (we usually go to the movies every weekend, but we've been neglecting it). Pretty good story, pretty good acting, I think it was too hyped and it led me to being disappointed. I thought it was pretty good, it just depends on the moviegoer. They hyped it up so much that after leaving the theatre, I said "Meh." Not bad, and the ending was pretty sad. |

Went to see Mao's Last Dancer today; beautiful movie. It was a book first but I hadn't read it; i saw it with my mum and she's read it and loved it. She said the book goes into the story in more detail but she loved the movie too. Its gorgeous. I really loved that they used actors who were actually dancers. The guy who plays Li is fantastic and all the Chinese cast are excellent, I think the US actors really let it down tho; they weren't nearly good enough. But it was a beautiful movie and I highly recommend it. _________________

Elyse and I watched Friday the 13th last night, the new one. Can I just say this was the most un-scary scary movie I've seen in my life? Yeah, it was really dumb....it was fun to see Jared Padalecki and Danielle Panabaker in it, though, because I'm obviously a huge Jared Padalecki fan because of Supernatural, and I remember seeing Danielle Panabaker in all this Disney Channel stuff years ago....so it was interesting.
It's a good movie to giggle at through the entire thing....my sister and I spent the entire movie making fun of everyone. Including Jason, by the way, that's how un-scary he was. I kinda enjoyed it in all its stupidness though... In a weird sorta way. XD _________________

In the theaters the last movie I saw was Julie and Julia, which was fantastic!! My mom, my best friend, and I all loved it. I actually immediately went out and requested the book from the library, and just got it, so I'll be starting it soon.
I got Sunshine Cleaning from Netflix yesterday-its definitely a good movie-really enjoyed it-another Amy Adams movie lol. _________________

Ooh, I wanna see Sunshine Cleaning so bad. I luv Amy Adams.
I'm apparently on a bit of a scary-movie kick, so Elyse and I just watched The Uninvited. Loved it. This one actually scared me. In a good way. Was awesome. _________________

I thought that The Univited was pretty good too. Nice twist!
Aside from the 3D versions of Toy Story 1 and 2, the last movie I saw was Pandorum. It was meh. There wasn't much character development and the story wasn't told very well, it didn't answer any questions and was kind of all over the place. lol _________________
