Heya 
I like making improvements to LVI code-wise. Thus.... I'm once again open to suggestions... .
I'm thinking of putting in KC's suggestion quickly that we passed over at the beginning of the Suggestions thread...  about the whole "vidding program" thing. Might come in handy... hmmmm
of course, overkill is just as bad as nothing,  so what isn't needed probably shouldn't be in.
Anyway, here's another chance for you guys to give an updated.... rant... if you will, on the annoyances of LVI and I will try and fix them to make them better lol.
"try" being the key word.

Is the "spotlight" thing just random council pick videos? Cos if that's what it is, I don't really see the point in it, I mean you can just go to the council pick page.
I have a suggestion: we need a special forum for trolls to post in. Wouldn't you love to see them talk to eachother?

Spotlight Video is a good idea, but like gerbil said, is it random? I think it should be random, so that way people don't start freaking out because theirs has never been up...ya know how things can get ugly that way.
Trolls having their own section is cool! I would love to see these idiots converse. I have nothing better to do and I love a cheap laugh! |

Nah, that's not what I'm saying. There's already a "Random Video!" button on the site. But if this spotlight thing is just random CPs, that's pointless IMO since we have a CP page. If you wanna do this spotlight thing, maybe instead you could make it that every day there's some vid you guys vote to be "spotlighted". Or maybe you could have an option in the "Random Video!" thing to just look for CP vids.

I think the spotlight thing is a nice idea.

I think that's a pretty cool idea though, maybe every so often, like each week or month, you guys vote for a video (or vidder) to be spotlighted for that week or month.

Yeah I agree. Maybe we could nominate a vid to be the spotlighted every week then it stays there for the next week? And during contest weeks the top 3 get spotlighted.

That it is. I thought it would be good to have a spot on the front page showcasing a sample of LVI's best work so any completely-new-to-vidding viewer could just open the page, go "ooooohh... what's this?" and suddenly be hooked by a great video. I highly doubt most newcomers (or a lot of members, for that matter...) know about the CP page, or they'd at least watch a good deal of other videos before they get to it (and if those vids are... not so great... then they may be put off of fan videos for good).
Also, I thought the Gold winners need more of an award than one silly little seal. Every vid I vote Gold on is one I think is worthy of that hypothetical monthly spotlight. The problem is, those vids are pretty-much perfect in my mind, and sorting Golds from one another, trying to pick one each month as the "Best" is way difficult, not to mention time-consuming. Also factor in that not every judge sees all the vids...
Basically, I thought this would be a good way to go about showcasing the best LVI can offer, on the spot, so even anyone sceptical to vidding (like some of the people who were reading this: http://lostvideo.net/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=7459 could have a good experience right-off-the-bat.with the vids.)
But if you guys don't like it, I could take it down.
I don't know about the monthly spotlight video thing where we actually physically advertise the best of the month, but if the other CMs want to do it, then we can make it happen easilly enough. All I know is any vid where I vote Gold is already a spotlight vid. And choosing between those beauties is just being... nitpicky

I guess having random CPs for people who are first coming to the site is a good idea...I'm just thinking though...people who get CPs always get more comments than others, and for good reasons...but I think the people who don't get CPs and therefore hardly any comments (or sometimes none at all) feel kinda left out. Besides, they need more constructive criticism. And the more things you guys add to show the very best vids to people the more this is gonna happen, and yes, you could get some new people interested in vidding by watching gold CP vids, but you could also lose some vidders, and you'd probably end up with the exact same amount of vidders, or less.

Warren, you don't mean giving out random CP's do you? I thought you meant featuring a vid that has already been voted for a CP. That you guys would choose a Gold CP vid and put it on the index page of LVI.
Now I'm confused |

OKAY, here's an idea and just tell me to shut up if it sounds stupid:
For the feature vid on the index page, it could be the winner for each monthly contest. Since LVI gets so much traffic, that could be a great way to show people an awesome vid. |
