The only way I know how to fix that is to download the K-Lite Codec pack.

That's what happens to me with AVI. So with all the AVI files I have; I just convert them. I just convert them to WMV format instead by using a video converter. Any Video Converter is the best one I've used.

I just run my AVI clips through Windows Movie Maker.I save it (render it) like I would if I was making a video using the program. This always works for me.

Vegas can't see avi video when it's in XVID form but can see it in DIVX form... I have a program thing dl-ed called "Nic's FourCC Changer" that lets you just drag and drop your avi videos in and switch them from xvid to divx

I've had it for a long time so I don't know where I dl-ed it from... but google searched and found this
http://www.benis.it/dvd/download/screenshot/NicsMiniAviC.htm
^that's what mine looks like so try dl-ing that one

It's so much faster and easier than trying to convert clips

This thread is old, but just to toss in my two cents!

The FourCC Changer doesn't work for everyone, but if it does it'll save you a lot of time.

I found FormatFactory converts my avis into really nice quality wmv files. Or if you have the hard drive space, use virtual dub to convert your files to a lossless codec like Lagarith. It creates large files, but they are heaven to vid with and you won't lose any file quality in the conversion.

Good luck!
