and now for the announcement that you've all been waiting for...
The submit page is now back online and fully operational!
There are a few changes, you may notice them, you may not. The important thing is that it's now much more secure that it was before.
So, have at it everyone! Enjoy! _________________

Yay!!!
*offers nice webmaster a glass of lovely, cool lemonade or other beverage of choice*
Seriously, thanks for putting the pieces of LVI back together for us. Sometimes I think we forget that this isn't your "real" job -- though I bet it's felt pretty real to you lately, huh? I can't even wrap my brain around what all you've had to go through with the hack or how you've tried to shore everything up to prevent it from happening again. You da man, E! You da man!
And thanks for letting us keep the Spam thread, too! I love it when you drop by (and I'll try not to announce your presence with a big shout-out again... )!
Well, guess this means I should start trying to upload "Hit The Road, Jack" tomorrow night. Everybody cross your fingers and wish me luck!
Thanks again, bunches and bunches!
~Aislynn
PS - Paul, you're priceless! That's perfect!!! |

I'm SO glad the submit page is back up, but I'm having a small problem with it. Nothing major and if this is the way it's gonna be, that's ok but I thought I'd point it out. The form won't let me post any "special characters", and that even includes commas and apostrophes. I normally name my videos "songname-uruviel.wmv" but it won't let me type that in. _________________ Heather |

Uruviel, I was having that same problem, what worked for me was to type out the URL somewhere else then copy it and paste it into the URL field. It *should* work. _________________

That problem should now be solved.
As for the pating: why is that working for you Ringwench?! what browser are you running? If it can be bypassed like that, then a hacker may be able to too |

I don't know why it works. I'm using internet explorer. When I went to submit my contest vid, the first time I did it it didn't submit properly, but the second time I tried it went through (at least I think it did! Can you confirm that, Hobbes?). _________________

Yes yes all entries submitted sucessfully!
IE huh..... You don't by any chance know what version it is, do you? You could probably see by going to "Help" and selecting "about Internet Explorer". If it's an old version, then that might explain why that PHP function isn't working |

It might be an older version (I'm running Win 98, sadly), I can't check right now because I'm not on my home PC, but that might have been the problem. _________________

yes, blocking some special characters is by design and apostrophes are no longer allowed. sorry about that.
however, dashes were being blocked incorrectly (only on typing and not on pasting) when they really didn't need to be. I've changed the form to always allow dashes. Thanks for reporting this. _________________

Thanks for the replies, and Ringwench, I should've thought to try pasting! Oh well! Thanks for changing the form, Enchirito! I'll just have to remember to not use words with apostrophes next time, lol. Anything so that hackers can't screw up the site again. _________________ Heather |

Yeah, sorry bout that.
It actually wouldn't have been impossible to allow them, but it was much easier and quicker to just block them. _________________
