of course there are ways to get lost clips from the internet - acceptable ways. However, I've been wanting to make a LOTR vid for the LONGEST time and the only way I've found thus far of getting the footage onto the computer is ripping the whole bloody dvd. Not very space-friendly - one disc would take up ALL of my free space. So, how might i go about getting individual clips from the dvds to...editing friendly avi clips? I was hoping someone here would know...anyone? please?

I use dvd x. You can specify the time to encode/rip and you get a preview of it so you can see what it is.

It's okay here's a few tips:

If the dvd is locked won't open try playing it first in a dvd program pausing it then rip it should be unlocked now.

To open a dvd click file, dvd root and select the dvd then the contents of the dvd will come up and if you want the movie just select the longest one.
