MAY 2008
Contest: Flip It!
Deadline: June 2nd -- extended!

The Details:

This month it's all about song choice and all about flipping it! Ever heard Bitch by Meredith Brooks and realized it'd be perfect for Sawyer? Is Demolition Man by the Police the perfect Claire song? For May we'd like you to be as creative as possible, choose a song and flip the subject matter! Say a song is sung by a guy about a girl; we want you to flip it so that it's a female character talking about a guy!

The Rules

Specific Contest Rules:

• -Make a vid with a song from a male point-of-view about a female or vice versa and flip the genders for the characters represented. Try to pick a song with a definite gender mentioned in the lyrics. We're looking for more than just a generic song sung by a man and applied to a female character or the other way around. We'll also accept a song from a man's point of view about a woman being flipped so that it's a woman's point of view about a woman or vice versa, just so long as the main character's gender has been flipped.
• - Running time should be no longer than 5 minutes. We suggest the 3 - 5 minute range.
• -The more creative, the better. Don't be afraid to take risks.
• -When entering your video on the Submit page, you MUST enter "May 2008 contest submission" exactly in your vid's description.

General Contest Rules:

• -Contest submissions should be entered through the Submit page.
• -All regular submissions rules apply.
• -Only one entry per vidder.
• -Videos already submitted and RELEVANT can be submitted again, but we would rather see something fresh. (Please contact a CM if you wish to enter a previously-submitted video)
• -Please do not use Megaupload, Rapidshare or Yousendit to host your files.
• -Keep in mind that however you choose to host your video, it must be available for download at least until the end of the month. If we can not access your video at the time of judgment it will not be considered.
• -Have fun!

OMG! Kat, this is hilarious. I've wanted to do this for a while!

Can this also apply to "flipping" the meaning of the song? Say, if it's super happy, can you make it like a very depressing vid with the clips you use? Or is it put in a box of solely flipping the gender? I have some ideas for both, so it's no big either way, but I was just wondering.

And btw, I sooo want someone to make a Sawyer vid to that Meredith Brooks song. I will laugh very hard, I'll tell you that.

Anyway, it's all good. This is awesome. I think I'll work on a Sawyer vid to "Miss Independent" or a Jack vid to "Big Girls Don't Cry".

I'm not sure though...someone needs to do a Jin vid to "Barbie Girl" or something. xD In fact....I just might do that one now. LOL Wow, what a random thought.

Now that's just downright scary. I would also kill for a Sawyer vid to "Fidelity" by Regina Spektor. hehe These are the ideas I'm working with. Now I just have to choose! The hardest part!
