Welcome to LVI 5.0! 
At long last, the next chapter in LVI History is open to the public! Sporting a brand new voting system, visual design, favorites system, user editing system, and a number of other little features, we hope that the new LVI has what it takes to face another age of vidding.
Here’s a rundown of the new features:
New Voting System:
5.0’s voting system relies on you, the public, to vote on LVI’s vids and award the new “Viewer Picks†to the vids you think deserve them. The Council will still continue to vote on vids and review them for clip theft, but now the full power of the vote will lie in the hands of viewers like you.
To vote, you simply choose what your pick is, enter a reason (or use the default), and choose whether you want to be anonymous (hides your username) or hidden (hides everything except your vote value), and then submit!
To ensure vids are judged with the same accuracy and quality we’ve strived for before, we’ve added a few features:
1. CMs will be able to view almost all votes, even if they’re marked as “anonymous†or “hiddenâ€. We’ll be keeping track of anyone abusing the system (such as by constantly voting “goldâ€), or doing a good job voting (and take that into account when we choose our next CMs!)
2. The better a vidder you are, the more your vote counts. That’s right, we’ve weighted the system, so the higher your vidding rank is, the more your vote is worth when determining what a video should get. An “Advanced Vidder†has a vote worth twice as much as that of a regular vidder, and an “Expert Vidder†has one three times as high. The values may change, but the concept stays the same. We feel the better a vidder you are, the more you know what it takes to make a good video, and so we think you deserve more power when voting. It’s also our way to reward those vidders who have worked so hard on their vids for so long.
3. CMs will have a say in the Viewer Pick voting as well. Our votes are identical to those of “Expert Viddersâ€, and we won’t be voting on all, or even most, of the vids, so don’t worry – the power is still in your hands – but as we are viewers too, just like the rest of you, our votes still make up part of the public’s opinion. Especially since the Council Pick’s role has changed. Which brings me to…
The Council Pick Award:
First off, we CMs have decided we should have a bit less say in the overall judging of most of the vids here. In this sense, the CP is no longer the primary sorting device. Vids are now primarily ranked based on the Viewer’s Pick. And so, us CMs really have fallen back in what we do. We still run the inner workings of the site, but now we act more as a roving band of judges that hunts down the best videos than the sole voting body. With 5.0, it is our new job to focus primarily on finding the very best videos on the site and voting on them. A vid that receives 3 “gold†votes from CMs will automatically receive the Council Pick seal in addition to any Viewer Pick it might have. We like to think of it as an extra-special bonus award to the very best, like the Monthly Contest Awards or any of our other awards. But any vid you do see marked with a CP means it has something very unique and special to it that we want the whole site to know about!
The Council will still be checking every video that comes through to make sure it complies with the LVI Rules about Clip Theft and such, and at least one CM will view and vote on every vid on this site, so don’t worry, your vid is still being considered for a CP, even if it doesn’t seem like it. We’re not just playing favorites here.
Favorites System:
But say you do wanna play favorites! (*heh, shoulda seen that one coming!*) Well, you can use the brand-new favorites system! If you’ve got a favorite vidder, you can add them to your favs list, which lets you easily keep track of the newest vids of theirs, and your other favorites. The “Newest vids†are determined by the vids you haven’t voted on yet. This feature should help you (or me!) keep track of the vids by those vidders you just have to keep up with.
Sorting System:
Speaking of sorting videos! (what, I didn’t say that?) With 5.0 comes a few cool features, like being able to easily sort vids from any video page by a number of settings: “All†(displays all) “Viewer Picks†(sorts from gold VPs to Bronze VPs) “Council Picks†(displays gold cps only) “My Picks†(displays vids you voted on and liked!) and “Awaiting Judgement†(displays vids we’re counting on you all to vote on!)
You can access these from any page, so say you want to vote on some Sawyer vids – just go to the Sawyer page http://lostvideo.net/characterview.php?var=7&ordering=vpending and click the “Awaiting Judgement†link, and you’re in business!
We’ve also added a paging system so you can easily access the vids way back in the deepest depths of time with no trouble .
Oh, and there are special super-secret-sorts I may reveal in time I just thought I should dangle them tantalizingly in front of you all for now lol.
Extras:
Along with the big stuff, we’ve implemented a few other extras here and there. You’ve seen Enchirito’s beautiful visual work, but there are a number of others: videos now have a couple new fields, like the “Vidding Program†field that lets you keep track of what people have been making their vids with, and the “Warning!†field that lets you warn others about mature themes in your video (no more R rated vids, thank you very much!). Also, you’ll find your vidding profiles now have a couple new fields too: “Alternate Name†(when one just isn’t enough) and “Other Vidding Fandoms†(for those vidders who are just too popular). Plus, your beautiful avatars can be displayed right on your vidder profile now.
Oh, and btw…
Edit Your Video/Profile
Now with a safe and secure login system, we can allow you to edit your video’s data anytime you want! Just go to your vid’s page and click the “Edit Video†button in the top right corner, then edit away. You can’t edit your pictures… yet, but most of the other fields are available.
Your vidder profile is the same way, just click “Edit my Profile†in the right side of the page.
And that’s pretty-much it!
More things will come in time, especially now that the essentials are done, but in the meantime I hope you enjoy what you see!

I just want to say what a wonderful job you all did re-doing LVI.
It looks so gorgeous and the new features are amazing!
This site is like a gazillion times more addictive than it was before.
The only thing is, I'm kinda scared to vote on videos. I dont' want to like get in trouble if I vote for gold on too many things or something. I don't want to abuse my ranking or something, so I think I might refrain from actually voting on vids for now. 
Other than that, I just wanted to say how much I love this site! You guys are amazing!

Just wanted to kind of second what Warren just said and add this: the new voting system needs people to vote for it to really work, so don't be afraid to use it! We've just put in some safeguards to watch for abuse, not so that we can sit around and pass judgment on how everybody votes. Honestly, we don't care how y'all vote and we're certainly not going to start penalyzing you for voting how you really feel. Again, we're watching for abuse not just regular old use.
So don't be worried to get in there, enjoy some vids and vote to the best of your ability!  |

(And thanks Ais for highlighting that! Yes, as of right now we already have 19 videos in need of votes. With 5 votes apiece needed, that's a lot!  If people can't make the numbers we may have to lower the mimimum number of votes to a lower (and less fair) number. |

The new site is awesome...but I dont really like how Expert vidders have a vote that's worth 3x that of any other person... Also...how do you judge someone on their "rank"...is it like how many gold CPs they get or something else?
Anyway, thats me done...amazin work guys well worth the wait |

The ranks are devised mathematically by how many Gold CP seals a vidder has for their last 10 vids. So, yes, the more CPs you have, the higher your rank. And each rank gets an increasingly "stronger" voting power as an incentive to try and achieve the next rank (otherwise they'd just be titles with nothing to them).

Exactly! With one slight correction: it's your VP score that determines your rank, not CPs. So it's the public who decides.
And I forgot to post this before, but here's an elaboration on the ranks (which you can get to by clicking on anybody's rank on their vidder page)

OMFG! "We" are back! (We... hahaha, like "I´m sooooo part of the family!" )
I´m in shock, amazed... and completely Lost!
The new site is just like heaven! Really! Wow...
I´m still trying to figure out what happened! But its soooooooooo good!
Good Lord, I´m an "expert" vidder!
OMG! I almost forgot how much I LOVE THIS SITE and all people around here!
Now I have to finish all my gazzilions videos that I started and decided not to finish until the site finally open again...
You guys are just GREAT! Loved, loved, loved the new look! Wow...
No words... Ok, I should stop now, I talked too much already... My bad english is making me
