LOVE Oberyn Martell!!!! I was so skeptical when they announced the casting bc I'd just seen Pedro Pascal on Graceland, where he played kind of a straight-laced FBI agent, but now I think he's a fantastic Oberyn! So excited for this storyline!

Love that they're keeping in the Sansa and Ser Dontos thing. I was afraid they'd cut out Dontos entirely and just have it be Littlefinger the whole time.

The Margaery and Brienne scene was nice, I completely forgot that they would've met before at Renly's camp. I wish she'd spoken to Loras, though. Brienne and Loras's interactions in King's Landing were great, but I guess on the show Loras doesn't think it was her who killed Renly so it would be different anyway.

Not a fan of the new Daario yet. I don't like his look, he's very plain to be Daario and I didn't really feel like it was him, like I did with the guy who played him last season. I hope he grows on me. I'm a massive Daario fan in the books.

The final scene with Arya - LOVED IT!!! She's getting scary, and it's so perfect!

I'm a latecomer to the party, but my sister and I have crushed the first 3 seasons in two weeks. I have recently found out that I would be a Lannister. (Here Me Roar). My favorite characters are the Siblings, mainly Cersei. I'm also reading the books and haven't devoured a book like this since Wicked.

Welcome to the fandom, Stacey! I was a latecomer too, I only read the books and watched the show last summer. Though I'm definitely a Tyrell... I've gained a certain respect for Cersei after the last two books.

Yay, Stacey!!
It's never too late to join the party! I like and enjoy the show - but it's the books that I truly love. ♥♥♥

I'd probably be a Clegane... but a nice and kind one and with loyalty to the Starks
I love Sandor, the younger Clegane brother... I just can't help it. My heart is also with the Stark kids, especially Sansa, as well as Brienne and Jaime.

Haven't seen the new ep yet. I'm still waiting for the German version so that my girlfriend can watch it with me

Cool Stacey Welcome aboard. I'm a Stark then I guess. Jon Snow is one of my favourites. I love Jaime and Brienne too.

Welcome aboard, Stacey!

I think I'd be a Greyjoy if only because I'd rather be on a boat. I'd be a nice Greyjoy, though, and start a Tough Love/No Killing revolution among my people. LOL! I'd also love to be a Martell, though almost every internet quiz I've ever taken has made me a Stark.

I agree that the two swords bit was such a great way to start the episode. And by the way, did you notice they even rendered a ripple in the metal as it was melting down? Such an awesome detail!

OBERYN!!! He is soooo perfect. I had a feeling Pedro Pascal would be perfect just on sight, and he did not disappoint.I was a little worried about his introduction, though, but I was glad that it veered from the potential porn scene to where Tyrion found him.

Paul, I was also happy with all of the history they brought into the episode. The scene with him and Tyrion where he was talking about Elia was amazing! Also, poor Tyrion!

I was really glad they kept the book scene in there, and I liked the scene with Jaime and Brienne a lot. I wasn't sure about the part with Jaime and Cersei, though. I was confused about her seeming to "break up" with him. I didn't remember anything like that in the book, but it has been so long.

Eryn, I was also happy that they kept the Dontos stuff in, and I'm glad they changed the hair net to a necklace. It makes much more sense. Last season I was really worried that they were changing her story line too much. Oh, and my jury is still out on the new Daario, too. I think the last guy fit more of what I'd pictured.

The dragons looked fantastic and I LOVED the scene where the one she was petting snapped at her. It's so important that they not make them look too tame and too much like cuddly creatures.

Loved Jon's scene, too! I especially loved the part before with Sam. And Arya and the Hound's scene was just completely epic from start to finish.

I'm SOOOOOOO excited for next week! Can't believe it's jumping right in!

Thanks guys so much! I am still chugging on with the first book, but am loving it almost as much as I loved reading Wicked. My sister on the other hand (who is the reason I started watching, has lost almost all interest in it, she was a Drogo fan.) I dont know why I love Cersei. (I keep trying to think that its just cause it Lena and shes just amazing, but Im thinking no) I see the entire Lannister clan doing things (mostly selfishly) to protect their family. (Even if its not what said family member needs/wants.

Of the other characters I do love (most of) the Starks. Im not the biggest Jon fan, but I hate Catelyn's meaness towards him, even if I love everything else about her. (She kills me btw in The Rains of Castamere, and if you ever want a good cry, watch the DVD with the commentary on and Michelle will kill you with her tears.) I really like the Tyrells alot, I wasnt sure how to take Margarey at first but I kinda do like her, especially her relationship with Sansa. (Who I also couldnt stand at first, but Ive warmed to her.) I really hate the Frey's but that is of course to be expected, and the Boltons can drop off the face of the earth too. With the Greyjoys, I dont know. I dont like the father, I like Asha/Yara and I have nothing but pity now for Theon. Clegane...I so didnt want to like The Hound, but how can you not love him for saving not just Arya but Sansa as well.

Julia, I would see you as a Seaworth. Still on the seas, but not the hardened Ironborns. <3 Omg, Brienne/Jaime <3 I love these two, shes brought out the human in a person that was so one dimentional.

"Sadly" I am getting a tad obsessed.

I've honestly never been all that fond of Jon. I like him fine, I just find his chapters in the books and his scenes on the show very boring, there are way too many other characters I'd rather be paying attention to (even though I know it's more than likely Jon will end up being very important ).

Dany was my favorite right from the start, I loved her from like the first page she showed up on. And I adored Sansa from the beginning because I knew going in that a lot of people hate her which makes no sense to me, but I'm that person in all my fandoms who loves the female characters who get all the hate. I love all the Starks, pretty much. The Red Wedding killed me along with Catelyn and Robb. Really wanted Robb to retake the North.

Theon is another one I loved from the beginning. Something about him just really intrigued me at the beginning and I had no idea where his storyline would go so it's just been a lot of pain on that front.

It took me a bit to warm up to Margaery too but now I love her. I love Olenna and Loras too - Loras especially in the books, the show is doing weird things with him and leaving out stuff I really wish they wouldn't. I'm sick of him only existing on the show to be the butt of gay jokes.

I could talk about these characters and my opinions on them forever honestly but I will cut myself off.

Jon is far from being my favourite character in the books, but to be completely honest, I like him far more in the books than on the show. While I usually love the casting choices for GoT, I can't warm up to Kit Harrington as Jon Snow
He plays Jon in a rather shallow way and, in general, they often make Jon look like a complete moron on the show while he's definitely more clever in the books.

I didn't like Kit early on but he has really grown as an actor on the show. I suppose it helps being able to identify with him more if you're a guy. I'm not a bastard in the literal sense of the word but some would call me one lol

Why I like Jon Snow.. hmm I guess it's about rooting for the underdog. Having a baseborn character become a heroic figure is pretty compelling. He's kinda like a young Ned with his sense of honor and who doesn't love Ned.

His heritage being shrouded in mystery is also really compelling. I won't mention who his father and mother are likely to be but it gives me goosebumps thinking about it.

I can understand how people could find him 'boring' but his story is certainly not boring. His chapters contain a lot of the action and focus of the narrative with the real war being between defending the Wall against the White Walkers and not the political machinations of Kings Landing. The KL stuff is some of my favourite stuff but is it really going to be that important as an endgame? Probably not.

Okay Jon rant over

Tyrion is a character that I love to bits in the books. On the show I have two problems with his character: their effort to make him more likeable in the show and his less than perfect accent. Love Peter Dinklage though. They really couldn't have gotten anyone better to play him I'm sure.

Really there are very few characters in the series that don't interest me. It is really hard to pick out favourites. I suppose I struggle with Cersei because she is so vindictive, especially in the books. She seems more likeable on the show which is good though.

Those are the reasons I like Jon, too, Paul. I think I just feel for him, growing up in the situation he did where there was always a black mark on his existence through no fault of his own. Having no mother figure and always having it be made clear to him that he wasn't a real member of the family, that he'd never be a Stark, would never inherit Winterfell, etc. A kid like that could turn into someone none of the siblings cared about, but they were all so fond of him (well, maybe except Sansa) that it's clear he was a good kid despite everything. And it was such a brave and admirable decision for him to join the Night's Watch. I like that he is a good and honorable guy but he's not perfect. He makes mistakes just like everyone else.

Oh my gosh what a good episode!!!!!!

I don't even know where to begin, it was so great! So much more exciting than last week, this one really jumped right in!

I like that Bronn is the one helping Jaime re-learn to fight, I think that's a cool addition. I like show!Bronn a lot.

I'm interested to see what they're going to do with Shae, they've altered her character quite a bit so I'm wondering how they're going to deal with the rest of her story!

Oh my god, Oberyn Martell could not be cooler. I love him SO MUCH and I did NOT expect to love Pedro Pascal so much but he's perfect oh my God I can't stop geeking out. And Ellaria is perfect too!! I love them!!!

Oberyn and Loras making eyes at each other....um....okay....idk what that's about and I might be interested if I trusted the show to do it right but I feel like the writers were just like "hey, these two men both like other men so clearly we should throw some flirting in!" So....that's a thing.

God, the skit during the wedding feast was so gross and hard to watch! Loras storming out...I don't blame him. I'm impressed Sansa managed to stay put!

Ngl I actually teared up a little bit when Cersei and Jaime ran to Joffrey as he was dying. I couldn't care less about Joffrey but seeing his parents so upset tugged my heartstrings.

The Theon scenes Alfie is doing a fantastic job. It was heartbreaking when Ramsay told him Robb was dead.
What's with the girl helping Ramsay hunt at the beginning? Am I forgetting something??

Spoiler:

Oh my God, Olenna's comments about "who would kill a man at a wedding" CRACKED ME UP, though. I LOVE her.

I'm getting seriously annoyed and upset about the way they handle Loras on the show. So are all the gay references and jokes all he's good for? Meh!!!!

Me too!
Oberyn is one of my favourite characters in the books and I was really nervous and worried about the casting choice, but Pedro turned out to be just perfect for the role! And yes, Ellaria is wonderful, too!

Ok, so we don't know yet if Shae is really gone but if she is, I'm wondering if she might be (big Book 4 & 5 spoilers following!!!)

Spoiler:

the "new" Tysha?

After reading the fifth book, I was - and still am - totally convinced that Tyrion will see Tysha again, eventually.

What if they changed that on the show and instead of finding Tysha, he will find Shae again, at some point after his escape from Westeros?

The again, I don't really want them to change the part where Tyrion kills Tywin and Shae.... it's horrible what he does to them, I know, but it's such an important part of Tyrion's storyline and I don't really want that to be taken away from him.

Oh, I know! Alfie's performance is heartbreaking!!
I remember the mention of Ramsay's cruel "hunting games" in the books - and I also definitely remember Ramsay's dogs *shudders* - but I don't remember who he's playing his games with...

OMG... that scene with Brienne & Cersei...
It can NOT be a good thing that Cersei knows about Brienne's feeling for Jaime.
Brienne, get out of KL.... now!!!!

Right??? I adore Loras, probably more than I should but whatever, and there are so many great things about him in the books - like the parallels between him and Jaime? His relationship with Margaery?? But we're not going to see any of that because the writers clearly just want to keep pointing out that BY THE WAY, HE'S GAY. If I thought they could handle an Oberyn/Loras subplot well I might be excited, but I don't think they can. Besides, at this point in the books I'm pretty sure Loras is still deep in mourning for Renly and I can't see him wanting to get with anybody else!

More discussion of spoilers (in response to Karolina)!
Spoiler:

Oh!!!! That's a really interesting theory about Shae!!! I think Tyrion has mentioned Tysha on the show, but maybe they will go that route with Shae instead! Shae has been given so much more depth on the show I've been wondering how they were going to justify what happens to her. I loved her anyway in the books and hated Tyrion for killing her, because nothing she did was her fault.... But at the same time, killing Tywin and Shae is a MAJOR moment for Tyrion. As much as I don't want Shae to die (especially not at Tyrion's hand), I don't know how they can continue Tyrion's storyline and get him to the emotional place he's in in ADWD without that happening!
