Quote: | like I said before, as easy as it would be to blame youtube for all the crap, it's really the production and record companies fault that we have no true place to share our creations. |
I agree. I wish they'd do something like Lost did in the final season. They had that contest to make an ad for the show and the winner had their video shown on ABC. They provided clips (with their watermark) and music. They let us fans enjoy our vidding and they got what they wanted out of it.
They need to appreciate the fan vid and maybe put out watermarked clips from the production companies and songs for use from the record company.

Ok, so that was pretty random: The vid was completely blocked on YT because a *part* of the vid (one scene, to be exact) was property NBC Universal... I took that one scene out and the vid was uploaded with no problems at all.
Weird, huh? _________________

This is so weird. I had gotten a strike back in like Dec or so of '12, and I was so bummed by that. Now, after just uploading a new video, I went into my settings to make sure I don't have any other strikes... my first strike has disappeared. I'm really happy about it, but very confused. I thought they didn't take away strikes once you get one??
Okay, so before posting this, I checked and it says:

How to resolve a copyright strike and restore your account’s good standing:
You may wait six months for the strike to expire. The strike will expire as long as you complete Copyright School and receive no additional copyright strikes during those six months.
You may ask the person who claimed your video to retract their claim of copyright infringement.
If your video was mistakenly removed, misidentified as infringing, or qualifies as a potential fair use, you may wish to submit a counter-notification. |
So, I guess because I didn't receive any additional strikes, my first strike has expired. _________________ *~Summer~*

That's how it used to be Summer, but I suppose they changed it, maybe because so many users were complaining? I know that I've had strikes on mine before that have disappeared and it kinda freaked me out at first as well. Where did you find the information on the strikes? _________________

I think some of the strikes seemed to disappear after youtube updated to the 'black and white style' a while ago. I dunno if they changed the terms when they updated it, or just relaxed them a bit, or whatever. _________________

I typed in Copyright sanctions into google and found this https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/2814000?hl=en
I'm glad that my strike is gone because I would hate to lose a second account due to just doing what I love, ya know. This time around though, I know more about it and am careful with what footage and song I use. I'm finally hitting 120 sub's and some videos have over 500 views, so I'm hoping to keep my account to get my stuff more known, ya know. _________________ *~Summer~*

Well at least that's something YouTube has done right!
Copyright School is so patronising it makes my eyes sting |
